Served from a bottle into a basic pint glass, served warm, just slightly chilled.

App: Deep mahogany color, nice 1/2" light tan head

Aroma: Smoky, roasted aroma, coffee

Taste: Roasted, mild burnt flavor, slight coffee flavor but not very strong, a little spice on the front of the tongue with initial taste

Mouthfeel: Light/Medium body, esp for a stout. Fades quickly, no staying power at all.

Overall, this is a good but not impressive beer, very run of the mill; drinkable but nothing I'd go out of my way to get.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, raisin, prune, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt notes with moderate fruitiness; and good strength. Taste of caramel, raisin, toast, toffee, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, chocolate, brown bread, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; with a solid amount of robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice brown ale. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
