12 ounce bottle, on to the beer:
Deep dark brown color, almost like a porter, rocky head on top. Good retention, great lacing all around the glass. Aroma is nutty, with some toffee and a mild kick of hops. Rich mouthfeel and flavor. Good maltiness upfront and all around. Nutty, toffee. Hint of bakers chocolate. Spicy towards the end.
I was expecting this to be ho-hum...and instead I was shocked. This is a very delicious brown ale.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, raisin, prune, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt notes with moderate fruitiness; and good strength. Taste of caramel, raisin, toast, toffee, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, floral, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, chocolate, brown bread, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; with a solid amount of robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice brown ale. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
