A huge balance of specialty malts, pounds and pounds of American and European hops, brewed with a hint of luscious Pomegranate juice.

Clear amber, orange body. Small off-white head to start with, never amounted to much. Finished with a skim of bubbles on the top.

Slightly sweet aroma, definately some hints of pomegranate, outside of that a little caramel malts. Other aromas include a bit of grassy, straw hops and some sweet honey like scents.

Flavor is interesting. The pomegranate is notable throughout. My roommate has some pomegranate juice in the fridge and a comparison indicates some definate similarities. A fair amount of malts show themselves, a little sweet caramel and some biscuit as well. Some herbal hops finish the flavor. There is some astringentness to the flavor which turns me off a bit. Alcohol peaks out as well, but not as much as it could, fairly well hidden. Overall its good, but has some harshness.

Mouthfeel is a bit thin. A fair amount of carbonation. Coats the mouth well, but the flavor doesn't linger for too long. Decent drinkability, but the harshness in the flavor limits this.

22oz bottle shared with son in law. Thought this was a 2016 release, but judging by other ratings must have been 2006. So 16 years in the bottle. Wow.

Looks pretty good in the glass. Dark reddish brown body, quite clear. Off white head persists throughout leaving rings of lacing.

Strong malty aroma.

On tasting, sweet, malty, with a ton of raisin flavor. Quite delicious.

Mouth above medium. Very low carbonation. Finish a raisiny sweet boozy delight.

Overall, apparently brewed with pomegranate and several hop varieties. These have long since vanished. But the beer that remains is a malty sweet raisin "sipper" that goes down way too quickly. Would grab another if found.

22 oz bottle. didn't expect much but was happily surprised.

nice mix of toasty and caramel malts, a vague fruitiness, and ample alcohol. faint spicy hops. no solvent notes. Didn't even realize this had fruit in it; comes across as a 2-3 year old barleywine.

pours very clear, orange/copper, showing quite a bit of depth, some legs, and topped with low off-white head with very brief retention.

fairly rich, but surprisingly not muddled. Once again seems fresher than it is. this was left at room temperature the last 7 years; I only put it in the fridge a couple days ago. ample caramel. now that I know it has fruit I'm looking for it, and though I'm still not sure I could call it pomegranate there is a definite flavor there that doesn't quite seem hop-, yeast- or grist-derived. No real oxidation, just a smoothing of the malts. Some complexity here without being muddled. Really well in balance. Bitterness is firm, lingering slightly into the aftertaste. Medium level but not obtrusive. Finish is a bit sticky, warming, not hot, and decidedly malty.

fairly full body, some warming alcohol, medium low carbonation. again a bit sticky.

fruit is well integrated and doesn't scream fruit beer. Basically an aged English barleywine at this point, and the hops have held up amazingly well. would love a bit of a flowery/spicy fresh hop aroma on top of it.
Don't know if I had this one fresh or not, but age has treated it well. No real negative oxidation and only a faint hint of the kind of sherry I'd expect at this age. It remains clear and the flavors are distinct rather than a muddy/muddled overaged sample. Color me very pleasantly surprised. I'd have this again in a heartbeat. And since I'm sipping it a snifter at a time, I've got a ways to go.

I got this beer from a local liquor store that had them in a bin and the bomber were a dollar each. Now that I have looked it up I know why...it was brewed in 2006 and they still had a bunch so let se how it tastes 4 years later.
It pours a dirty brown very cloudy with a light tan head.
It smells very sweet and rich. Some spicy notes and very fuity.
The sweet fruity smell is over balanced in the taste with bitterness from hops. If there was any hop flavor in this beer it is long gone 4 years later as expected. Spicy flavor with some berry flavor for a very short time near the end.
This beer has a lot going on and is very over powering. The flavors are not melding very well at this age.

Thanks to SeaBass for this treat.

A: Poures a nice amber hue with a tall white head. Okay retention with some spotty lace.

S: Aromas of sweet malt, toffee, and caramel. Nice summer fruit stands out as well with apples leading the way.

T: Sweet malty goodness. Fresh red apples and toffee really stand out. Sweet caramel. A hint of tartness from the pomegranate.

M: Medium in body, smooth.

D: Not too bad.

received as an extra from AdamB84, thanks!

06' vintage.

medium to dark amber pour, dipping my nose into the glass presents a nice smooth caramel aroma with a very slight fruit tone no hops are evident, classified as a fruit/veggie beer but this is a barlerywine for sure.

nicely melded caramel on the tongue that gives way to some fruit bitterness, I'm not sure I'd call it pomegranate but its enjoyable none the less.

carbonation is good, perhaps a touch under where I'd like it but at 10%abv this is very smooth and certainly doesn't detract from drinkability.

overall this is enjoyable, I wouldn't mind having this again.

22 oz. bottle, brewed in 2006,

From the label -

"Come my beloved, let us go to the fields. If the pomegranate trees are in flower, then I shall give you the gift of my Love." Song of Songs 7:12

A: Pours a light orange, with a full white head, long lasting, surprising for how old it is. Good lace as well.

S: Heavy on the malt, light notes of pomegranate, barleywine-esque, notes of must and soil. Great inviting smell of aged malt. The pomegranate certainly comes out as it warms.

T: Barleywine style toffee malt, the noticable earthy, rustic hop character melds beautifully with the mild pomegranate essence in the beer, giving a port-like quality. An elegant elixir, the flavours come together very well. The beer ends with a long, dry fruity hop aftertaste.

M: Smooth even with the chewy/resiny aspect of its barleywine character. Medium/full-bodied, very soft carbonation, off-dry, with a light and easy ethanol burn at the end.

D: A lovely beer at this stage, and I think it will continue to evolve though it is quite drinkable now. This is not a straight-up fruit beer where the fruit dominates. The pomegranate is really in the background, this beer is a barleywine at its core. I don't know why this lone single was sitting around by itself at Mr. Kegs, but I'm damn glad I picked it up.

I quickly opened my bible and turned to Genesis chapter 10 verse 10 and read aloud as my wife and I were curious....no relevance whatsoever, no problem as I understand the whole 10th anniversary thing. At least I am rewarded with a mighty fine barleywine, American style no doubt. Fruity sweet aroma, the mouth begins to pucker a bit as I sniff the glass. Amber pour with some dark copper and ruby red tints, minimal head that quickly vanishes and no lacing. Standard feel to this one, but the finish is very calm considering the style and high abv. Nice blended flavor, high octane with the malts starts out with a biscuit taste that leads to the sweet maltiness coupled with a fair share of hops and finally finishing with a refreshing dose of fruit flavor (from the pomegranate of course). That last part really makes this unique and very interesting in a really good way. Some yeastiness towards the end, extremely enjoyable...The chosen beer eh.

A: Poured a nice ruby-orange color with off white head that left a slight sticky lacing.

S: citrusy pine aroma, a big maltiness, dark fruit and fresh dough.

T: The flavor was smooth and very clean with some fruitiness, sweet malt backing a good hop bitterness reminding me of Chinook with some sticky pine resin texture and pungent grapefruit notes. There was a slight alcohol warming in the finish from the 10%abv.

M: sticky in nature. light carbonation.

D: Good drinkability for a fruit beer. good enjoyment.

Appearance: Pours a fairly clear amber color with a garnet tone; the head fails to persist but does splash a little lace from time to time

Smell: Rich caramel with an unusual cherry tone; since I have not smelled a pomegranite for a while, I think that is what I must be smelling; even after several years, I also smell some alcohol

Taste: Opens with the cherry/pomegranite flavors tangled up in caramel; a modest pithy orange bitterness joins up at mid-palate; after the swallow, the flavors turn a bit harsh and lose the balance in the initial profile

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Despite the harshness on the finish, it still drinks nicely and has an unusual character about it that makes it somewhat memorable

Pour a slightly clouded deep amber with red hues, and is capped by a tight creamy tan head. Good retention and some lace left behind.

Aroma is similar to a Belgian dubbel - fruity esters and burnt sugar, with grassy hops and a hint of berry. Mild alcohol brings up the rear.

Tangy sweet-tart flavor of sugary malt and fruit. Lots of burnt caramel that gets too sugary. Pomegranate is noticeable but does not mesh well with the burnt malt. Alcohol is a little too assertive as well with booziness really coming through. Finishes dry and astringent. Interesting but just not working for me.

Full bodied and creamy, but way too cloying. Gets a little rough after a while. Didn't think the alcohol would be as much as an issue with some age on this beer, but I was wrong.

Appearance: Orange, almost brown body with a large-bubbled head that is only slightly off white. Head sticks around, leaves some lacing.

Smell: Very fruity, apples, oranges, lots of citrus. Makes me think of a weak orange juice. A bit of tart from the yeast, perhaps? Yes, definitely yeasty, a touch of hops. Invigorating, interesting, makes me want to know more...

Taste: The fruitiness is pronounced in the taste as well as the nose, but the oranges take a back seat to the apples. A touch of bite from the hops, a nicely warming sensation from the alcohol, and an overall sweet apply fruitiness that I like quite a bit, almost despite myself. Finishes dry but clean, leaves the palate wanting more.

Mouthfeel: Moderate thickness on the beer, chewy (presumably) due to suspended yeast in the bottle. Nice for style, enjoyable.

Drinkability: I am usually not at all a fan of fruit/vegetable beers, but this one is pretty stand out. I'd think of it more of a slightly citrusy IPA or DIPA as opposed to a regular fruit beer. Highly enjoyable, worth the trouble to seek out, although since it's not brewed anymore I guess I'll just have to content myself with this one bottle.
