Poured from a bottle into a schooner. No obvious best before date.
A - Pours a dark brown with ruby at the ends, has a tan head that disappears very quickly with little lacing.
S - Nose combines a light caramel malt along with grassy hops.
T - Initially some moderate hops bitterness makes way for some caramel malts with some strong coffee notes at end. As compared to some of the other offerings this is not overly sweet (e.g. compared to 13).
M - very light carbonation, thick and coats the mouth.
D - moderately warming, but also drinkable.
I'm not sure if I would call this one a Brown Ale but it's solid. It's definitely less intense than some of the other higher numbered offerings, but still powerful.

Re-release from the vertical pack from a few years ago.
A: Pours a dark red, near black, with a small amount of light tan head. Just a bit of film retains, along with a ring around the edge of the glass, leaving minor lacing.
S: Lightly sweet with a dense undertone.
T: Again lightly sweet. Lighter than I'd expect, and doesn't taste or feel quite like 10%. The complexity is decent, but not outstanding.
M: Medium to light body, medium carbonation.
Overall, not bad. Not great. I think it may have been aged too long, even at 10%.

12 oz bottle. Opens with a small pfft. Aroma of chocolates, malted milk balls, dust, alcohol, shoe polish, leather and a pinch of dark fruits. In the taste, a good bit of roast and char upfront. Wood, citrus and earth notes from the hops are there, and dry this right out. Molasses, oily dark cigar, and raw brown sugar. Alcohol flavor is mild to unnoticeable and the balance is big but even. Some caramel, chocolate and molasses are there in force. Licorice, anise and a bit of warmth. Oily and full in body, the carbonation is low but present. This is an excellent strong ale, reminds me of a Russian imperial stout.
