I poured this amber lager into a pint glass. There is no "freshness" date. The bottle says that it is made with "8 malts, 6 hops, and Czech pilsner yeast." It also says that this is the favored beer among freaks...I guess I am a freak too.
A: I like the appearance, but I wish that the head would have stayed around for longer. It has a body that is a clear orange-amber color capped by a thick off-white bubbly head which recedes to a thin lace. It does leave lace on the glass.
S: Wonderful aromas. I smell strawberries, bananas, along with the sweet malty smell. It is very candy-like. Underneath there is a piney hop smell, with a crisp smell reminiscent of many types of lager, due to the "Czech pilsner yeast".
T: This is a very well-balanced beer. There is definitely more bitterness than usual for this style, but it does not take over. It is carefully balanced by a bread-like malt character. For all of its sweet enticing smell, this is hardly a sweet malty beer. The alcohol is there, warming the mouth, though it is only 5.5%. The flavor remains fairly consistent throughout, lingering mostly at the roof of the mouth.
M: This beer is full-bodied, with a chewy mouthfeel and smooth carbonation. What more could one ask for?
D: I think that this beer is extremely drinkable. It is hard to imagine a better beer in this category. The alcohol is tame and so I would be able to have a couple of bottles easily without passing out. I recommend this American amber lager highly.

Appearance - Deep amber color; translucent. Large 3 finger cream-colored head when poured; dies down quickly leaving an uneven layer of foam on the surface of the beer. Lots of medium bubbles.
Smell - Interesting very malty aroma. Slightly nutty.
Taste - Begins with a very nice malty flavor, followed by a smooth medium hoppy flavor with a mildly dry finish. Nice and refreshing. Full flavored for a lager.
Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation, somewhat effervescent. Nice.
Overall - Very nice lager, flavorful. I enjoyed it and would gladly have another. While it did not blow me away, it was a very solid basic craft beer.
