Bottled, no date I could find which may be an issue. I have had the bottle in cool dark for about two months.

Poured hazy golden color, quite a bit of frothy head that dissipated quickly to next to nothing. Aroma didn't give me anything. No spices, maybe a little beer like smell, but nothing much. Taste was similarly disappointing. Little hints of spice, but muddled and not able to identify. Somewhere mid sip, I get a strange flavor that reminds me of potpourri or almost like a lip gloss. Very odd. Not highly carbonated, slight tingle.

Not quite sure what to make of this. Reminds me of a witte but not getting the coriander and citrusy hops. Middle of the road is best I can do on this bottle, might try again to confirm the findings.

A white lager beer, hmm somethin different.Poured into a pilsner all head and foam even with a gentle pour,it took forver to finally come down to pour more. After a long wait a lemony yellow color emerged with a spritzy-like look to it.aromas were a little faint just some toasted grain and mineral with a hint of ginger. At the beginning the flavors are light and toasty and pretty pleasent even a hint of lemon comes thru but man that finish is a little harsh, big ginger and fennel hit hard and kinda ruins the beer and its drinkibility. This beer is off kilter in a bad way,Iam not sure how old it is and its from a brewery that I respect, very odd.

Have seen these around forever, but never picked any up until it arrived in my Beer of the Month Club. I'm happier that way, frankly.

This looks promising coming out the bottle. A hazy, deep straw-orange, almost like an IPA. Nice retention if moderately poor lacing.

On the nose, though, this is offensively over-spiced. Pepper and coriander so strong it's like sticking your nose in a spice bin.

Fortunately on the palate this is somewhat muted. This is surprisingly full bodied (medium to medium full) and is nicely rounded with a crisp, sparkling finish. Mid-palate has a grainy, lightly toasted or bready sweetness. This is almost powdery, however, in the spice notes, and although it isn't terribly sweet to taste, the body sits a bit sweet on the tongue, leaving this feel sticky and spicy and not terribly refreshing for a lager or a wit.

I bet you could find a food pairing that would take advantage of this faux-wit's strength: its abundant body and structure, and turn its primary negative: the excess of spice, and make it a better experience.

Unlike Saison du Buff, which somehow manages to make an herb-forward beer that pleases, the spices here (and perhaps that's the key) foil this beer.

Had on draft at the Frisco Grille, Colmbia, MD.

A- Pours a hazy gold, with a nice white head.

S- Not much there, a little fruit (citrus) and some spice???

T- First I was hit with menthol???? What the... Second sip I got some of the orange and some spiciness (clove?).

M- Not overly done but very carbonated.

D- Sorry, I like Wit biers, but I wouldn't, and couldn't have another of these beers. Maybe there was a problem with this keg, but it didn't seem infected.

Pours a cloudy orange/yellow with a large white frothy head. There is a ton of carbonation in this beer. The smell is alittle on the weak side with wheat, lemon, and sweet malt. The taste is really not that great. A nice lemon wheat summer beer with a bunch of spices? Hold the spices and this would be good, but the strong ginger flavor doesn't make it with me. The m/f is light with the strange mixture of flavors not really coming together. A strange beer, not horrible, but it just didn't do it for me.

S: Bottle poured into an Ommegang glass

A: Hazy yellow with a thick fluffy head and good carbonation.

S: Spice, hops, some orange

T: Spice overtakes most of the beer taking away from the citrus notes that are present.

M: Carbonation stops the beer from feeling to heavy even though it is unfiltered.

D: It is drinkable, however, why would want to?

Overall: I'm disappointed. I do not mind aggressive spice, however, it is not blended well. The spice mess with the fruity taste that could shine and the finish is not pleasant.

Not sure exactly what to think about this one. It smelled nice as it came out of the bottle but smelled a little stale when.you smelled it out of the glass. It pours a cloudy pale brown, by far the best quality of the beer. It tasted wheaty, slightly spiced and flat. It leaves a flat taste in the mouth as the taste sticks in the mouth. Aftertaste doesn't stick around that long and the beer goes down fairly easily. This might fit some peoples taste but i didnt enkoy it.

pours a cloudy yellow with a thin egg-shell head, and some lacing.

smell is of spice, some wheat, and a touch of citrus.

taste is of ginger, spice, appricot, wheat, and light hops.

overall too much ginger (maybe a spice beer) for my liking but still drinkable.

I got this as part of a BOTMC. I poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a hef glass. It pours a hazy gold with a moderate white head. IMO the smell was weak and tepid. There is just the faintest hint of spice. The flavor is off, slightly spicey up front and it finishes spicey. It does have a lemon like sweetness to it. The brew is light in body and highly carbonated. This one did not work for me. IMO it tasted very little like a wit and it really didn't tast like a lager. They kinda missed on all counts.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Hi-Times for two dollars from the clearance rack, my bottle said eight percent ABV, split with Noah and Kathleen, poured into a pint glass last night

A-Golden yellow color, one inch foamy white head, some retention for a few minutes, some lacing at he beginning
S-Skunkiness, yeast, ginger, toasted malts, biscuit, light coriander, and nutmeg
T-Starts off with a big spice presence, malty in the middle, lots of ginger and other spices in the finish, more of a sipper for its style than most others I have had in the past
M-Yeasty, dry, and spicy mouthfeel, thin to medium to bodied, fairly high level of carbonation, taste lingers a long time for a pale lager
D-Probably could not have drank this whole bottle, alcohol is hidden well but the spicy tastes were pretty dominant, not your normal smooth and crisp lager

I was expecting this beer to be a lot worse than it was, actually decent for its price, have not had many heavily spiced lagers but this seemed to work fairly well, might drink again at that price, probably worth trying

The color revealed ro a medium pour is a mix between a dark pilsner yellow and a pale wheat ale sunshine. Just a little brisk, bone white head after the pour. The first thing that hit the nose is a strong, almost overwhelming scent of anise I could get some soft fruits under the strong herbal anise. When the yeast is swirled in from the bottom of the 22oz bottle, you get a little more fruity, clove flavors. This beer tastes like a wheat ale supercharged wth a lot of anise. A bit too much in my opinion. The sediment adds a more complex flavor profile. The palate is tart when filtered, adding the yeast dulls down the tartness fest. Coul be refreshing on a summer day, but one glass does me just fine.

A white lager.. interesting? Pours a cloudy orange/yellow color, no head to this one. Taste is medium bodied, highly carbonated. Lemon/citrus sort of taste to it. Finishes smooth with a bit of a funky citrusy sort of after taste. I would have rather had this just be a white ale instead of this new hybrid. Drinkable, but seems like an odd concoction, and certainly tastes like one. I'll pass.

Shmaltz- Coney Island Albino Python

A- Hazy bright yellow with a thick white head. Decent lacing.
S- Grapefruit and ginger root with lemon and licorice.
T- Light touches of black licorice, ginger, grapefruit, lemon, and clove. Unique tasting.
M- Light and citrusy. Crisp up front. Spicy/ gingery body and a thick sweet finish.

Overall- Very odd tasting. Not horrible but just unique. The licorice, ginger, clove, citrus aroma doesn't do it for me.

Poured from a 22oz bomber that I brought back from my Indy trip into a pint glass. No dating info. It was a hazy straw color with a huge carb geyser in the center. Good sticky white lace. It had a huge fizzy white head that slowly settled to a constant carb fed 1/4 inch foam.

The aroma was unique. It was heavy on the ginger - made it smell like a ginger ale. Got a little of the coriander and the orange peel but they were being shoved in the back by the ginger. I love ginger in food and the smell of ginger when cooking but I've never liked the smell or taste of ginger ale so this doesn't bode well. I do love fennel so was curious to smell and taste that but it never really showed up - disappointing. The taste was too heavy on the ginger ale for me. I might have liked it if it was a supporting player but it was the star attraction here. I ended up finishing it but it was a struggle the last few gulps.

Overall, a miss for me due to the ginger ale aspect. But I can see this being a good beer if you do like ginger ale. One and done. Can only recommend if you love ginger ale. If not, avoid and try one of their other beers. One thing I did like is that they say the proceeds from this series are going to support the real Coney Island which is cool.

Coney Island Albino Python……on tap at Resto in NYC

Appearance-pours a vibrant gold with a large off white head that settles nicely into the Stella Artois glass given to me.

Smell-coriander, other spices, similar to a hefeweizen or wit smell, lager smells are overpowered

Taste/Mouthfeel- mixed flavors, spices hang around in the background while at first you get a rush of grain and alcohol, then the coriander comes back in and carries the taste through till the end. Medium mouthfeel and not great smoothness, lacks the arid cloudyness of a wit to balance the spice, on the blank canvas of the lager it is too pronounced. I can tell they are going for the crispness of a lager and the depth of a wit but it doesn’t quite work.

Overall-I like the idea, but it just didn’t do it for me, lots of flavor packed in here but maybe they could balance some of this out.
