Not overly sweet or pumkiny (if that's even a word) and a hint of espresso flavor. A perfect Fall beer.

This is, hands down, my favorite beer of all time. I encountered it a few years ago back home in Atlanta at a place called The Porter. It has a lovely blood red color and a pinkish foam that I've never seen in any other beer I've ever had. It has hints of apple, orange, and a floral print somewhere from what I tasted. At 6.66% ABV, it's a devilishly delightful drink. It's a little thin in your mouth, which doesn't really make a lot of sense considering the flavor you get. Also, the smell, doesn't really hit you as hard as I think it should, but those two things are minor compared to the beautiful flavor.

I heard this was a fun beer and picked up a 22oz bomber in Newton, MA. Cracked it open tonight expecting lost souls to come flying out, wailing in misery, but it never did happen. All that was released was a perky looking Lager and some interesting smells. I poured this brew into a Tumbler and prepared the sacrifice.

Appearance: After a nice poor...A hazy ruby and about one finger of pink fluffy head. I knew it was coming so I was not shocked or appaled, although that may have been what Shmaltz was going for. The head dissipated quickly but left a nice rim of lace. With a little bit of agitation, a small head returns and looks cool.

Smell: A little bit of fruit and malty sweetness. Also, toasted Strawberry Poptart.

Taste: A little bitter for what I would have expected, but still sweet and tasty. As it warms up, I taste a lot more of the malt. I might say it warms up nicely.

Mouthfeel: Crisp carbonation but it feels sticky as it wanders my palate. It's got a chewy body that goes down well.

Drinkability: Overall, this is a very fun beer to share with friends and family. It goes beyond the norm and isn't that part of letting your freak flag fly? I'd recommend this beer to anyone that likes Red or Amber Lagers and I'd recommend this beer to anyone that just needs a damn change. Pick this up if you can and try it for yourself!

Poured into a pint glass. The color is reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. Very unique! Small eggshell colored head that disappeared almost instantly.

Beautiful aroma with strong malt notes coming to the front. Also, hints of sweet, cherry candy mingling with earthy notes from the hops.

A little heavy on the malt side of things. Not overpowering, but could be better balanced with more hops. Very tasty for a lager. Very sweet on the front then the hops kick in and it finishes with a short, dry, sweet aftertaste. Carbonation is perfect--crisp.

Mouthfeel is warm and smooth. Alcohol is present but doesn't take over.

I could drink a bunch of these.

A: snifter. pours a nice hearty red...very valentine's day red. nice bright pink head. good retention and good lacing. nice waterfall effect.

S: nice aroma. good mild malts well-balanced with the hops. some fruity notes are there, but far in the back. like maracchino cherries or fruit punch.

T: some odd fruit punch flavors...could be mental. good lager characteristics...well-balanced mild malts with mild malts. more bite though.

M: low-bodied to medium bodied. smooth and mellow with some bite.

D: very nice and odd brew, and well worth a try if you can find it.

Presentation: Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz. bottle.

A: Blood red color. Clear with a pinkish-red head that dies quickly.

S: Malty and hoppy balance. Grains and slightly bready.

T&M: Wow. Really original. Nicely balanced lager. Mainly malty tasting, but the hops really balance the flavor. Some caramel malt flavor. Very smooth. Medium bodied. Carbonation is not really there which is probably the only downfall.

Very nice brew by Shmaltz.

This beer is very similiar in bottle or on draft.

Pours a crazy cranberry red with a cool pink head.

Fresh nose of light berries and fruit with some sweet character in the nose.

Mouthfeel is creamy and nice, very well balanced and just feels good.

Flavors are balanced fruity/berry malts with light citrus bitter hops.

Great finish with all of beer qualities layered and coming through. Crazy looking but tastes very good.
