Review from notes at World of Beer - Fort Myers on 11/20/11.
Poured on draft into a shaker pint.
Appearance: Pours a hazy golden caramel with a 1-2 finger thick snow white head. Excellent lacing.
Smell: Sweet citrus with a touch of lemon and lightly sweet malt.
Taste: Sweet citrus and lemon peel up front followed by pale malt in the middle before ending with nice fruity hops at the finish. Aftertaste is bittersweet and light.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with good carbonation.
Drinkability: High drinkability. You could have a few without much difficulty.
Overall: Good beer overall. A very solid IPA that is worth trying.

GLASS: Troegenator Mug
TEMP: Cellared @ approx 45 degrees
This was picked-up last week in St. Louis, by my buddy Jacob, as part of the He'Brew Holiday Gift Pack. It seems that Half of the beers in this set are 'retired'. Hmmm...not really sure what to think of that.
Anyway...big thanks to Jacob!
This pours darker than I'd expected. It's like a lightly brown tinted orange color. The head of off-white colored foam is fluffy and almost a fingers worth in height. The retention is good and the lacing is in thick, clingy strands.
Some caramel coated tropical fruit notes, along with mild hints of pine. Malty sweetness and pineapples. Peppery spice notes.
This smells more sweet then hoppy, which is how I like them, personally.
It drinks much more balanced than anticipated. There is a definite maltiness here, with hints of toffee and caramels. Then you get a decent showing of both tropical and citrus fruits. Finally, you finish with some good notes of pine tar bitterness.
This one is medium-bodied with a light-to-medium level of carbonation. It is smooth and crisp, yet has a slight bit of creaminess to it.
This is one that I'd gladly drink again. Unfortunately, it seems as though I may not get that chance....

Picked up a couple singles at 1.99 a piece to try this brewery out. Dry hopped with Cascade and Centennial hops, 65 IBUs. Poured into my snifter.
The brew appears a light-medium copper hue. Slightly on the orange-red side of the spectrum, under a good cap of froath which retains well. Good lacing, the kind with lots of bubbles. The lace looks like swiss cheese.
The nose: Pineapple, Mango, ripe melons, hint of orange, peachy, wild flowers. This nose is packing a big punch of many different aromas..I can't even concentrate on one because each sniff something else is bringing something new. Grapefruit just hit me, with pine/herb notes.
Taste: The flavors certainly follow the nose with pineapple/mango dominating the start, which instantly mellows out mid-way with a clash of Vienna and Munich malts. Ends with a pleasant taste of grapefruit, grass, and wild flowers. Very bright flavors, very tasty.
Mouthfeel is creamy, coats the palate and is medium bodied. I don't see any carbonation rising..which is why it is so smooth. However I would not mind a bit more of a bite.
Overall this is a good brew I'd recommend to someone who likes their sweet fruit. Cantolopes just hit me. I am enjoying this and wouldn't mind grabbing a 6 to put back if I saw one. A bottled on date would be nice but I doubt this is much older than 1-2 months. The aromas and flavors are completly vibrant and pungent.

This brew pours a nice clear, light amber with an aggressive head 2 to 3 fingers thick. After the head dissipates, a blotchy lace a thin head remains.
The aroma is quite hoppy with smells of pine and honey.
There is an initial hint of caramel malt that quickly gives way to a mouthful of sweet and bitter hops. The hop flavors are hard to ID - maybe not quite ripe orange. There are citrus and pine tones, but the extremely long finish is clearly grassy.
The mouthfeel is bright with a medium body. It is definitely hopped heavily.

Part of the He'Brew Holiday pack.
appearance: Slightly hazy gold. Wispy off white head.
smell: Dank leafy hops. Some sweetness a slight whiff of peeper.
taste: Wow, the disparate notes in the nose really come together well in the taste.
overall: Not impressed until the first taste. Nicely done IPA.

Tried this in a 22 oz bomber, the last one apparently at our local TotalWine. No date on bottle. The appearance is an attractive clear red orange without sediment. Aroma of floral hops, vanilla, but little else evident. Surprisingly little complexity in the flavor profile also with hop bitterness, some malt but no real fruit or other tastes to extend the interest. Vanilla again with a burning hop bitterness and some pepper late. The mouthfeel is thinner than optimal with no piney, resiny character. Overall I expected more from the makers of Lenny's RIPA which is one of my favorites. Perhaps this is an older bottle as they are apparently discontinuing this ale?

Pours a hazy light brown color with some golden and orange hues. The cream colored head is dense and leaves a lovely wall of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is of candied tropical fruit hops with some pepper notes. Big pineapple aroma goes along with a sweet bready malt. Not my favorite hop profile at all, too sweet.
The flavor is big on pineapple and orange hop notes, however there is also some grassy, peppery and resinous characteristics in the finish. The malt is sweet and bready and really highlights the tropical fruit hop flavors.
The feel is moderate with aggressive carbonation. I kind of like the carbonation this strong in this beer as it breaks up the body and the sweetness. I do like how the resin hop notes makes this beer more grounded. Really saves this brew.
A solid IPA, just not my favorite hop profile. A bit too sweet up front.

Amber blonde with a creamy, lumpy ivory head that leaves pretty lace on the glass. Classic C-hop aroma with a strong blast of Munich malt grain. A strange brew to my taste buds but not bad, powerful malty brew with nice aromatic hop flavor that would lend itself to a less aggessive malt backbone IMO. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. A near miss for me but enjoyable in an unusaul beer kind of way.

Bottle into pint glass
A – had to slow my pour to accommodate the large off-white head, good staying power with thin layer left and nice lace all around the glass, a clear light brown amber copper color, moderate carbonation, a solid 4
S – Pine dominates, mild citrus and florals with a caramel malts sweetness 3.5
T – Sublime caramel sweetness, pine, sticky-icky grapefruit zest, dry bitter finish, like not love 3.5
M – It has a sharpness, medium body, the masses of hops here provide a resinous quality to the brew 3.5
O – I’m an IPA lover and well it is named Hop Manna, but I’d like more malt balance/character here. Lacks a certain je ne sais quoi. 3.5

65 IBUs, dry hopped with Centennial and Cascade hops, according to the label. I haven't encountered an IPA from Shmaltz before, so it's a test taste.
Pleasant spicy flavors, a little hot, even. Intense fruity-floral taste from the hops. A dry pineapple taste. Light body with pleasant carbonation in the mouth. Amber color with a chill haze in the wine glass. Nose is full of more fruit, reminds me of the rank honey smell of fruit trees in bloom. Not great for drinkability but a different sort of hop blend. Quite bitter in the aftertaste.
Poured from the 12 oz bottle in the current Shmaltz sampler pack.

12 oz. bottle purchased locally as a single. No date on bottle. Poured into Duvel tulip glass.
A: Quite cloudy dark amber, with very short foam that drops quickly and leaves a ring and surface slick of off-white bubbles.
S: Sweet caramel & fruit; floral; resinous pine;
T: Mostly sweet caramel at first; grassy w/ pepper & some very slight citrus fruit; long build of moderate bitterness, especially in the throat; alcohol is well masked.
M: Medium body and low carbonation; slick, resinous feel; slight heat; neutral finish.
O: This is quite likely well past its prime. Sweet malt and bitter hops prevail. Simple. I'll be interested to try a more recent batch.

A - Clear amber body with a billowy off-white head that leaves a few patches of lace behind.
S - Sweet caramel malt, doughy bread, honey, mineral-like aroma.
T - A blend of agressive pine, grapefruit, and leafy green hops hit all at once. The caramel malt keeps things sweet while the hops turn to a resinous grapefruit bitterness with spicy, minty, salty, and dry finish.
M - Medium body, moderate carbonation.
The nose is deceiving, this beer is aggressively hopped with several layers of bitterness. The hops showcase more bitterness than flavor.
