65 IBUs, dry hopped with Centennial and Cascade hops, according to the label. I haven't encountered an IPA from Shmaltz before, so it's a test taste.

Pleasant spicy flavors, a little hot, even. Intense fruity-floral taste from the hops. A dry pineapple taste. Light body with pleasant carbonation in the mouth. Amber color with a chill haze in the wine glass. Nose is full of more fruit, reminds me of the rank honey smell of fruit trees in bloom. Not great for drinkability but a different sort of hop blend. Quite bitter in the aftertaste.

Poured from the 12 oz bottle in the current Shmaltz sampler pack.

The Hanukkah gift pack crushing commences! Dude what is up with a gift pack of retired beers!? ONWARD! Poured into a nonic pint glass!

A one finger off white head forms, not very large but some decent staying power. Body color looks a little hazy, with a copper bronze amber body, and no perceptible carbonation anywhere.

Nose is sugary sweet, mild hop, but kind of sugar syrupy smelling. Feels like a good sugar rush is coming. Mushy over ripe fruit.

Taste is luckily a good quick hop bitter. Mild orange almost tangerine juicy, but very fleeting in the palate. Finish seems to be an orange juice like quality. A nice bitter lime/orange astringency, even slightly lingering. Fruit angle doesn't last very much in the palate at first. Mouthfeel is pretty solid, and luckily it's not a sense of syrupy mess from the nose.

Overall not that bad really, but there's a lot of phenomenal IPAs out there, and this of course is not brilliance

355ml bottle poured into tulip 21/12/11

A hazy dark orange with lots of tiny bubbles feeding a short lived finger of light tan foam that leaves a fair bit of unorganized lace

S pretty faint but I get some leafy hops and tea bag, with some caramel malt

T piney citric rind comes out on top of what I smell, lots of caramel and a little booze, I'm curious to the age of this bottle because it seems the malts starting to take over

M the little bubbles work well for it and it has some body to it, leaves a little bit behind and has a piney aftertaste, just a little sticky

O OK beer but not the hop bomb that I was hoping for

Not sure how I feel about a "retired" IPA as this just entered the market here in the Holiday Gift Pack. I'm running out of beers in this pack to make up for the high price tag, I'm beginning to think this was a bad investment.

At a recent beer tasting party and one dude brought He"brew Hop Manna #2 which is dry hopped with Centennial and Casscade hops. The beer poured clear copper with thin white head that did not lace. The scent included subtle smoke, hop, alcohol. The taste included some citrus, sublte pine, and a hint of sweetness....maple sugar perhaps?? The mouthfeel was not all that enjoyable, the higher ABV and presence of Alcohol in the taste certainly affected the overall ranking of the beer.

Aggressive pour yielded almost a 4 finger head, resting atop a clear copper color, with some slight chill haze. Head never fully went away and stick lace clings to the glass. Appearance is this beer's best feature.

Smell was of sweet malts, I am not getting any hops at all. This is odd for a dry hopped IPA.

Taste was more of the same, i.e. overly sweet and malt dominated. This is an IPA, I want hops punching me in the face. There is some hop influence and bitterness to balance the sweetness, but I can't discern any particular hop flavors, most just bitterness. Finishes is a bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium, typical IPA given the level of alcohol. Fairly low carbonation, but that could be a result of the aggressive pour.

Overall, this not a bad beer, certainly better than macro. I would not seek this out as there are a plethora of superior IPAs.

Pours a hazy light brown color with some golden and orange hues. The cream colored head is dense and leaves a lovely wall of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is of candied tropical fruit hops with some pepper notes. Big pineapple aroma goes along with a sweet bready malt. Not my favorite hop profile at all, too sweet.

The flavor is big on pineapple and orange hop notes, however there is also some grassy, peppery and resinous characteristics in the finish. The malt is sweet and bready and really highlights the tropical fruit hop flavors.

The feel is moderate with aggressive carbonation. I kind of like the carbonation this strong in this beer as it breaks up the body and the sweetness. I do like how the resin hop notes makes this beer more grounded. Really saves this brew.

A solid IPA, just not my favorite hop profile. A bit too sweet up front.

Bottle into pint glass
A – had to slow my pour to accommodate the large off-white head, good staying power with thin layer left and nice lace all around the glass, a clear light brown amber copper color, moderate carbonation, a solid 4
S – Pine dominates, mild citrus and florals with a caramel malts sweetness 3.5
T – Sublime caramel sweetness, pine, sticky-icky grapefruit zest, dry bitter finish, like not love 3.5
M – It has a sharpness, medium body, the masses of hops here provide a resinous quality to the brew 3.5
O – I’m an IPA lover and well it is named Hop Manna, but I’d like more malt balance/character here. Lacks a certain je ne sais quoi. 3.5

This brew pours a nice clear, light amber with an aggressive head 2 to 3 fingers thick.  After the head dissipates, a blotchy lace a thin head remains.

The aroma is quite hoppy with smells of pine and honey.

There is an initial hint of caramel malt that quickly gives way to a mouthful of sweet and bitter hops. The hop flavors are hard to ID - maybe not quite ripe orange.  There are citrus and pine tones, but the extremely long finish is clearly grassy.

The mouthfeel is bright with a medium body. It is definitely hopped heavily.

A - Clear amber body with a billowy off-white head that leaves a few patches of lace behind.

S - Sweet caramel malt, doughy bread, honey, mineral-like aroma.

T - A blend of agressive pine, grapefruit, and leafy green hops hit all at once. The caramel malt keeps things sweet while the hops turn to a resinous grapefruit bitterness with spicy, minty, salty, and dry finish.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation.

The nose is deceiving, this beer is aggressively hopped with several layers of bitterness. The hops showcase more bitterness than flavor.
