Poured into a chilled pint glass

A - dark copper with an off white head- awesome lacing left throughout.

S - not too much hops off the nose just a lot of Carmel.

T- pretty malty and sweet with an undertone of pine like hops. Usually not a fan of the hoppy AND malty type beers but this ones actually balanced incredibly well. Starts with sweet Carmel malts that go through out and at the end you get a small hop presence that's silenced with more sweet malts.

M - somewhat creamy, decently carbonated.

Overall, the flavor isn't awesome on this beer per say- but it's the perfect balance that makes this beer so drinkable. I will say with a name like Hop Manna , do NOT expect a hop bomb because this beer is far from it. Anyway, not my preferred ipa type but I'd drink it again.

Foam gushed out of the 22 oz bomber upon opening. Deep amber orange with soapy khaki head that was two fingers, nice lacing.Aggresive carbonation.

Sweet malt, faint whiff of hops, plain and simple.

Taste=nose. This is a malt bomb, English style sweet malt.

Mouthfeel is medium, prickly carbonation, sweet aftertaste is overbearing, nowhere near enough hop bitterness to counter.

old review from notes. accidently reviewed this test batch under the actual brew at first.

Red-orange color with a great, creamy off-white head. Smell is delicious hops of all types, earthy, citrus, pine all represented. Great bubbly but full mouthfeel, but the taste is a little lacking. It's almost all earthy bitter, with a little roasted malt background. Kinda one-dimensional.

Glad I tried it, but probably won't get it again.

A: cloudy orange color with a small, fine head on a cold pour.

S: piney, citrus, melon, and sweet malt.

T: doesn't follow the nose much. Lot of bitterness, less flavor than expected, and a bit of off flavor, too.

M: medium body with just enough pop in the carbonation

O: great up until I tasted it...then even the smell changed for me. Still, it's interesting and available.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy honey color, leaving a thin white head that stays around a while, no lacing though. Smell is nice, citrus and pine hope aromas as well as some caramel notes. Taste is good, starts a little sweet and finishes with a nice lingering bitterness. Taste definitely has a lot of citrus character as well as pine and earth notes. Medium carbonation and body, mouthfeel is slightly resin like. Overall a fine example of an IPA, hard to knock it down for much and even harder to compare since there are so many differences within the style. But it is a very good, easily drinkable IPA, will definitely remember it for the future.

A- Pours a slight hazy amber color with a huge lacy head to it. The head sticks around as a lace for basically the whole bottle.

S- Great hopy smell that just gives that classic IPA scent to it.

T- A very hopy beer. Good flavor, I just wish there was more to it.

M- Lightly carbonated, the body feels light and watery.

O- A pretty good beer, but I think it isn't up to the standard that I have come to expect from Schmaltz Brewing. I will finish the beer and enjoy, I just wish I was enjoying it more.

Pretty good stuff. Served at a good temperature with a thick, foamy, cream colored head that lasts and lots of lace. Color is clear amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is hop, grapefruit, resin, malt. Flavor's like nose, balanced, bitter, dry. Body is full, soft, with mild carbonation; perhaps a touch too mild. Finish is like flavor, quite long, and satisfying. Could drink another of these.

Poured from a short "bomber" bottle into a dimpled English "pot" pint glass.
Deep gold in color, with a two-inch head of off-white foam.
Aroma-a fragrant boquet of citrussy hops
Taste-Big dose of woodsy, piney, citrussy hops combined with a slippery little malt profile that provides just the right amount of balance to counter the onrushing waves of hops. A "can't miss" for hop-heads.

He’brew Hop Manna IPA has a very thick, fluffy, cream-colored head and a clear, somewhat bubbly, golden appearance. Lots of heavy lacing is left behind. The aroma is of pine cone, flower stem, sweet bread, and turnips. Taste is of pine resin, sweet bread, syrup, malt, and a slight sourness. Mouthfeel is mostly medium, and He’brew Hop Manna finishes dry, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, this is excellent.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear texture. There was an inch and a half of foamy, long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A good amount of hops in the aroma, along with some mild citrus notes, too.

T: Tasted of hops (as you might expect), with a hint of malt, and citrus (grapefruit) as well. Not exactly a groundbreaking flavor, but focused and easy to drink.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Shmaltz didn't try to break the mold with this one, but it did make a drinkable beer.

Bomber poured into a Duvel tulip; no freshness dating apparent. Hazy, dark yellow body with orange hues. A two-finger tan head that has decent retention with good lacing.

The aroma in this pour is more malty than hoppy. Deep caramel malt with a bit of biscuit. Some citrus notes with a touch of grapefruit follow.

The flavor follow the aroma fairly closely. Strong malt backbone with a bit of hop flavoring. The hop flavors do bring citrus, mostly grapefruit, flavors to the malty mix. Very much of the east coast variety IPA.

Medium mouthfeel, and reasonably drinkable. I would prefer more hop flavor in an IPA. Decent overall.

Pours a hazy copper-golden with an egg shell/tan head. Head retention is better than average. A huge pine and tangy citrus bouquet, yielding to sweet barely malt. Mouthfeel is cottony and smooth, but complimented by mild carbonation. A beef and vegetable soup flavor occurs as a result of the interaction between the high alpha acid hops and the malt. This beer is interesting, but not very good. I'll drink it for $5.99 a bomber.

A: Coppery-tea color with a good clarity shows a light visible touch of effervesce. Chalky white creamy head sits a finger high with a good show of retention and lace coverage.

S: Sweet sugary grapefruit and pine with some lime. Sweet fresh caramel with a bit of fresh underlying tones of tropical fruitiness pineapple-mango. Some fresh lemon rounds things out.

T: The flavor is freshly toasted caramel grains, a bit dry, that balances well against the sweet grapefruit and pine hops that are fresh. Sweet underlying notes of tropical fruitiness, again pineapple-mangos while the citra provides a fresh and fruity lemon lime character. Upon warming some noticeable traces of oaky alcohol.

M: Some tightness upfront, creamy medium bodied malt base with a fruity and citrus leave off the tongue.

O: Fresh and fruity upfront and finishes out with a nice hop bitterness and dry toasted palate. Good hop complexity especially with the amount of hops utilized is not always easy to get a smooth flow of flavor. This is nicely harmonic with no hop clash, smooth and rounded hop flavors blend well together balanced nicely with a dry toasted munich and specialty grain background. The more you drink the more you appreciate the smooth and rounded hop character bitterness.

22oz bottle.

Pours clear, dark copper with an inch-plus head of off-white. A bead of foam around the surface for the duration and a few dots of lacing.

Aromatics lead off with plump malt and spicey hops. Pine with mild grapefruit follow through.

Medium bodied with a tacky mouthfeel.

A mild hop bite starts the palate with hints of pine and earthy spice. Medium bitterness and a good heft of malt for a base.

Finishes with ripe fruit, pine, and malt.

This beer is not bad, but it needs more hops.

Served just before Easter dinner. Hey, why not?

A: Poured from the bomber into a pint glass. Body is clear orangey-amber witha half-finger, bubbly, off-white head. Good lace.

S: Citrusy - sweet oranges and orange peel. Juicy, with some sweetness underneath the hops. Also a touch of pine resin. Nice nose.

T: Toasted malt foundation, then some spice followed by citrus fruit hops. Finishes with pine and pine resin, plus some earthy hops. It somehow manages to be slightly juicy, but semi-dry at the same time. Reminds me more of an APA than an American IPA, to be honest, but it's good.

M: Medium in heft, slightly resiny feel in the aftertaste.

O: Good stuff, though I knocked the overall down a touch because this doesn't remind me of an IPA as much as it reminds me of an APA. . ..

22oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

L - clear copper color with a white head that left a nice sheet of lacing.

S - juicy fruit gum and earthy malt.

T - a quick shot of tropical fruit before getting somewhat earthy and then turning grapefruit rind bitter for the finish.

F - medium bodied, crisp and refreshing.

O - good beer that I'll buy again for $5 a bomber.

Appearance: pours a hazy orange color with a 2" head that lasts a while. Nice lace paints the glass during the session.

Smell: floral and earthy hop bitterness comes through to the nose.

Taste: caramel, pears, pineapple, some grapefruit, and a floral bitterness rounds it out. Some earth tones arrive late. Bitterness is moderate overall.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp from start to finish. There is some drying late. Aftertaste is short.

Overall: this is a decent IPA that is somewhat refreshing. Very easy to drink.

22oz bomber.

The beer pours a deep copper color, almost a red tinged brown. A finger of off-white foam recedes rapidly leaving a thick coaster. Sticky lacing clings to the sides of the glass. Smells of fruity hops and pale malt. Lots of citrus in the nose. Taste follows suit with flavors of fresh oranges, pineapple and mango up front. Citrus fruit gives way to mild bitterness and biscuity pale malt mid-palate. More orange qualities return in the finish and a bitter aftertaste lingers a bit. Feel is medium with a medium level of carbonation. Overall this is a very tasty and quite drinkable offering from Schmaltz. Picked this up on a whim and now glad I did.

A - This beer pours a nice copper color with good clarity. There is about two fingers of slightly off-white head. The head has pretty good retention, and it leaves some nice lace behind on the glass.

S - The nose has some nice caramel maltiness and a citrusy, piney hop aroma. There are also some aromas of fruit, toffee, bread, and a little bit of booziness.

T - The taste follows the nose pretty well. It starts off with some bready malt sweetness. There is some fruitiness and some citrus flavor. A decent hop presence comes through a little late into the drink and provides some moderate bitterness. It dries up a little bit in the finish and leaves some lingering bready maltiness, hop bitterness and citrus behind on the palate.

M - This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down easy and has a pretty smooth feel to it. There is a nice amount of malty sweetness here, and a decent amount of hop bitterness more so on the back end of the beer.

O - This has good drinkability. It has good flavor and goes down easy. Overall, I think this is a good beer, and a nice IPA. There is some nice maltiness and a good citrus flavor. I just wish there was a little more hop intensity. I recommend trying it out. It is a good beer, and I would drink it again.

16 ounce pint - $6.25 at Taco Mac in Canton, Georgia.

Appearance: Fairly hazy appearance falling somewhere between tan and copper with a small, near white head. Thickish, sticky lacing on the way down.

Smell: Slight florals but a nose full of lemon -- the pith, the juice, the fruit -- over scant, lesser malts barely yielding hints of grain and characterless bread.

Taste: Initially, a muted breadiness with some hints of sweet cookie crumbs. Strong lemony, citronella flavor, though with almost an artificiality to it, like a sprinkling of Crystal Light powder. Late-breaking resins and floral accents. Moderate bitterness. Dry, lemon-lamenting finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It’s okay, though I’m not entirely sure where to place this review, as neither the beer menu nor the tap handle mentioned anything about multiple, well-get-it-right-eventually batches. So, digging into the forgotten, dust-covered sack for a 4-sided die, I rolled a four. Batch Four it is!

Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, a nice pine to small citrus hop. In the taste, citrus to a sweeter pine like hops. A small hop bite, but mainly smooth and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a faintly dry citrus hop in the aftertaste. Nice hops, a bit faint and a bit watery, but nice nonetheless.

Shmaltz Brewing Company

Pours a rich copper color, silky inch of head and laces decently. Aroma of caramunich and biscuit malt, with some grassy hops. In the flavor, decently hoppy with earthy bitterness and grapefruit. Malty as well, with suggestions of caramel, nuts, bread and biscuit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy. Overall, a pretty decent IPA, east coast style.

I had a sixteen ounce draft of this at the Amsterdam Ale House on Manhattan's Upper West Side. I've had so many styles from Schmaltz and Coney Island, including an excellent double ipa, but I've never had an ipa from them. This one was good but not outstanding.

Color was a light copper, not a lot of carbonation but it also didn't disapate very fast. Some lacing and a bit cloudy.

Aroma was piney, some citrus but more along the lines of an east coast ipa than west coast.

Flavor was also of the pine hoppiness with some east coast sweetness and a bit maltier than I like.

Overall a pretty good beer that I'll get again. Just not my favorite.

A - Poured with one finger of white foam on a hazy, dark copper body. Good retention and lace.

S - Sweaty, musty hops with caramel, pine and a hint of grapefruit.

T - Sweet malt, and musty hops up front. Some sour wheat character in the middle and a bit of pine hop character. Finishes with burnt toast, pine and dry caramel.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - Kind of cloying, both in sweetness and hop flavor. The sour malt doesn't help with drinkability and while it smells nice enough that doesn't make up for the unpleasant flavor.
