Poured into an imperial nonic a rich clear bronze with a large fluffy white head that settled pretty quickly.Aromas are nice but on the lighter side with citrusy-fruity hops and biscuit malt being the main components.A tad thin in the back end in the feel with sweet boozy laden flavors for such a small beer almost DIPAish,a mix of pine resin and sharp grapefruit rind flavors are nice but are a little subdued. The beer could be really good but it needs to be amped up a little,as is it's ok.

Found this at Carl's Meat Market in Kittery. I didn't know Shmaltz distributed in Maine. This was a pleasant surprise.

In a pint glass the beer was a dark orange color. There was a thick off-white head that left a good deal of sticky lace.

Piney, earthy aroma. Some citrus. Then sweet bread.

Piney hops taste up front, followed by grapefruit. A biscuit-like background.

A nice hoppy, but not excessively hoppy, beer. Enjoyed it a lot.

$5.99 for the bomber, w/o any freshness info to be had.

Pours clear almond amber, under a fluffy off white head, leave ungodly sheets of fine lacing. Nice

Faint nose of mild hops.

Easy drinking, moderatly hopped India pale ale. With some lite grapefruit notes. Doesn't live up to the hop spiel on the label. Decent brew, nothing special, or worth seeking out

The beer pours a slightly hazy orange color with a large white head. The aroma is full of orange, grapefruit and pine, with a little bit of biscuit malt. Overall, this is a very hop forward smelling beer, as expected. The flavor is has a lot of the same notes. The grapefruit and resin work very well together and are complimented by a hint of orange citrus. There is a little bit of sweetness from the biscuit malt which keeps the bitterness in the low to medium range. Easy to drink. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Tall bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando. First He'brew offering, and I do have to say the kitsch labeling works for me.

Poured into a nonic. Light amber, slight haze, decent level of head, some lacing. Nice looking IPA.

Nose is classic American IPA, with caramel, earth, citrus and c-hops.

Decent IPA, the flavors are all there. Good malt base, notes of citrus and earth. A bit of pine here and there. The whole thing is off for me because the bitterness of the hops only distracts from any subtlety here. I don't get the diversity of flavors the big boys consistently deliver, and so I left feeling underwhelmed. Mild body, I agree with a previous poster that this felt like a small beer.

It's not that I didn't enjoy drinking this ale, it's just that there isn't much to make a fuss about.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into a He'Brew shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep and clear golden copper orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of white head which slowly fade into a thin layer. Decent amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: A decent mix of hops up front. Hints of citrus grapefruit, orange peel, mango, and apricot. Also a little hint of dank pine resin. Solid presence of malts with hints of caramel, toffee, and biscuit. A nice smelling citrusy and well balanced IPA.

Taste: Nice bitter kick up front with a good amount of ripe citrus fruit flavor. Notes of grapefruit, oranges, mango, and a hint of apricot and lime. Light hints of piney hops. A good amount of bready malts add some balancing sweetness with notes of biscuit, caramel, and some toffee. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy, juicy, and nicely prickly on the tongue. Has a pretty drying finish.

Overall: A very good American IPA. Good ripe citrus fruits and nicely balanced by the caramel. Actually one of the better new IPA's I've had in a while. This is comparable to Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery's great Masla Mama IPA.

Crystal clear coppery orange with streams of bubbles rising up quickly to a thick and foamy head of dimpled and cratered foam that lingers long.

Big juicy aroma of fragrant citrus and floral hops, full of tangerine, orange rind and grapefruit.

Rich and pungent hop flavors right upfront, matches the nose well, with the addition of a piney finish, some minty notes. Grapefruit rind lingers. Good malt balance riding beneath, but the hop power keeps pushing it back down.

Full and creamy mouthfeel, finishes tingly, perhaps a slight warming of the cheeks. This a really good beer and a good value. Every hophead should give it a try.

A dark orange light brown pour usually means an ipa is going to be a little malt heavy relative to my personal taste. Bingo. Thin head. Aroma was lacking in hop presence, much less complexity.

Taste, damn skippy, sure enough, this one tastes more like malt man, uh (what happened?) rather than hop manna. A relatively smooth ipa, that should probably have just been called a brown ale. An English brown ale (oooh from the crowd, recognizing an insult when it hears one). But it did have an astringent bitterness going for it. Not really my thing without the hop flavor though. Like, where the hell are the alleged Citra hops in this? What did they use, like 1oz for a 100bbl batch?

This beer isn't bad. Its just bad for being labeled an imperial ipa. Schmaltz used to make some decent stuff, back when they were associated with, I think Anderson Valley? I don't remember, but it was more likeable back in the 90s. I'm gonna try their barrel aged blend beer, but if that disappoints, I think I'm done.

I thoroughly enjoyed a pint of Hop Manna at the Rockville, MD Matchbox recently.

Appearance (4/5): Pint glass with a decent pour yielded a large two finger white head. The body of the beer is very pretty–a hazy golden orange beauty. A fair amount of lacing sticks to the sides of the glass.

Aroma (4/5): This is a citrus bomb: lemon zest and orange dominate, while a piney, almost spicy hop aroma lurks in the background. Extremely fresh smelling. If the flavor is anything like the nose, this'll surely be a winner!

Taste (4/5): ...And it does. Foretaste is fruity and floral: orange, lemon zest, pine and cedar. The aftertaste is notably spicy–clove, pepper–and bittersweetly resinous. The lemon zest note obvious in the nose really comes through in the taste, though the notes of pine (probably from dry-hopping with Centennial) are more prevalent here than in the nose. Taste is not complex at all; it's all hops all the time, and a bit one dimensional. This doesn't take much away from the beer–it's still high quality stuff–but it does prevent me from going above "4" for taste.

Mouthfeel (4/5): Medium body. Good spritely carbonation. Satisfyingly resinous, the beer's aftertaste lingers for a little while without overstaying its welcome. Quite drinkable.

Overall (4/5): He'Brew Hop Manna is an outstanding American IPA and is the very definition of a beer that should get straight 4's. It nails the West Coast-style IPA flavor profile near-perfectly, but doesn't do much to distinguish itself. I almost feel like I've had this beer before. That being said, Hop Manna is still a very good IPA and I would definitely buy it again. Cheers!

Poured a cloudy amber with a slight hint of a white head. The scent was mostly malt, with undercurrents of pine and grapefruit. The flavor was typical for the style. Pine flavors, grapefruit and grapefruit pith predominate, with a malt backbone present throughout each sip. The hops are definitely more noticeable and leave a bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is again, typical for an IPA. Moderate carbonation and a smooth character allow it to go down easy. A good IPA, well worth trying, but it lacks the complexity of something like Sculpin.
