clear amber-copper with a sizable beachsand colored head that sticks around a bit and laces decently.

definitely get the citra dry-hopping with citrus and tropical fruits on the nose with a big caramelly malt backbone.

malt is the first to hit the palate, with a grainy and caramel flavor that gives way slightly to some pine, citrus and tropical fruit hops.

medium bodied, sticky and resiny with a subtle carbonation.

meh. kind of a slightly hoppy amber. Has potential, but it fails to really come together enough to compare to many other examples of the style.

Obtained a 22 oz. bottle from decent-sized bottle shop in south Calgary. I find this brewery's whole schtick quite amusing. Pours a rather dark cloudy orange with a hell of a lot of white fizz, although the carbonation in the beer itself was more low-key than this explosive start would suggest. Never observed my cat to try beer off the desktop before. Anyhow, I was immediately struck by the massive citrus and spice aroma, which also included some tropical pineapple and black current notes. The taste was even more aggressive, this thing is a dry, piney east coast hop bomb that tastes like the lovechild of a coniferous forest and a flower shop. Quite a dose of grapefruit and mandarin citrus fruitiness to start, with a few lime wedges for good measure, but this quickly takes a back seat to bitter citrus rind, fresh grass, pine resin, and strong flower essential oils ... Whoa. There is some caramel malt flavor but you have to look for it, at least initially. I did notice some burnt sugar and toast emerging once the bitter receptors became exhausted. Obviously the hops trump the malt and this one is weighted towards the pine and floral elements rather than the fresh citrus or tropical fruits you typically get on the other coast. Oily, semi-chewy body with some dextrins and sweet residual sugars mulling about. Still, aggressive hopping with an added black pepper spice that makes this one stand out a bit from the rest of the pack (six different hops in total, and they hit some of the noble spicy side of hops as well as the pungent citrus and pine). Some may want more sweetness to balance things out.

1st night of Hanukkah 2012...

a - poured a one finger thick eggshell-colored head into a snifter that left good lacing and sheeting throughout. the head billowed nicely as well. the body was a bright amber color.
s - piney hops with a hint of citrus and maybe some floral hops as well.
t - big, lip-smacking citrus hops with a nice caramel backbone.
m - medium.
o - solid AIPA from an underrated brewery. the hanukkah gift pack is off to a nice start.

Hop Manna
22oz with pint

A: Hop Manna pours a dull and hazed over amber color. Its barely even translucent when held to the light. Thick topping of taupe colored creamy head. Decent stay and spots of clingy crystals form down the glass.

S: Opens with a burst of deep forest pine that transitions into an overall spiced grapefruit aroma. Lesser notes of lychee fruit and gooseberry. Some sweet pale roast malt accompanied with a bit of caramel.

T: Flavors assert a nice grapefruit and tropical twist rather than the big pine nose. With a peculiar perk of lychee and gooseberry that I think would otherwise be nice here. Just seems a bit out of place in conjunction with the pronounced spiced bready malts used. Contrasting a little too much for me. Has a caramel sweet tow overall. Still a good moderate bitter charge with some nice fruity notes. Perfumed florals as well. Alcohol well incorporated and barely detectable. Not bad just a little too heavy with the specialty malts for me. Doesn’t quite accompany the hop selection.

M: Somewhat of a mixed bag here with a moderate standing overall. This one had a dry chalky finish at times and left the palate rather wet at others. Some residual hop resins and sugary deposits do linger about.

D: A nice IPA with juicy hop moments. Bright, fruity, and tropical but a in the end the Specialty malts kind of muck things up for me.
Okay but not gonna be a fav.

Pours a lightly hazed golden color. A finger of white head sits and simmers, leaving spotty lace.

The nose is hoppy and the citra hops are shining the most. Sweet malt is noticed for sure. Sweet and lightly hopped.

The taste is really malt forward. The hops don't really shine too much but are picked up after the malt takeover. Biscuit and citrus.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and has a considerable amount of carbonation.

Overall, too malty to be a classy IPA. I wish the hops played a larger role in the flavor profile.

Pours out a nice, warm orange. The head starts out on the large side, but collapse to cover just the top. Very nice lacing.

Biscuit and minerals lead the smell. Some citrus and pine show up, and a hint of caramel.

The taste is nice and balanced. Blood orange, caramel, biscuit and pine start it up. This leads to a middle of fresh cut grass and orange peel. Hint of wheat at the end. Goes down smooth.

I'd grab another, not too pricy and well made. Could become a go to ipa.
