Found this at Carl's Meat Market in Kittery. I didn't know Shmaltz distributed in Maine. This was a pleasant surprise.

In a pint glass the beer was a dark orange color. There was a thick off-white head that left a good deal of sticky lace.

Piney, earthy aroma. Some citrus. Then sweet bread.

Piney hops taste up front, followed by grapefruit. A biscuit-like background.

A nice hoppy, but not excessively hoppy, beer. Enjoyed it a lot.

Clear copper colored ale with a smallish tan colored head. The color is decidedly "IPA Orange."

Smells hoppy and earth with a scent of mostly pine and strong tea. Malt is not much here.

Starts out mildly sweet with a strong tea flavor. Mildly bitter with and earthy flavor that is strong on the tea flavor. Aftertaste is woody.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall just an OK IPA.

Reviewed on November 1, 2013. Poured a 22oz bottle into a pint glass (1.5x).

A: 1/2 fingered creamy head. It is so cloudy through this beer's copper body that one cannot see their hand pass it. Head dissipates quickly. Remnants of a head sticks around, but lacing is decent.

S: Beautiful pine and citrus emanating. Decent malt aromas as well. This is a nice standard IPA profile. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I enjoy a solid IPA nose.

T: The taste initially starts with a nice soft malt quality, but then a strong grapefruit bites throughout while even lingering. While continuing to drink the malt becomes slightly more present and memorable oddly enough.

M: The dry hopped qualities are quite remnant on the tongue. Slightly sticky oils, but with a nice crisp.

O: I really enjoyed this drink's taste at first, but it almost felt like the hops and malts were switching backwards and forwards. The qualities of a solid IPA are there, but just not properly balanced.

A friend in craft, music, and overall good times brought this back from a trip to Missouri. Poured from a 22oz bottle into Crown and Rose custom English nonics, this beer yields a nice copper-orange color topped by two fingers of white foam that sticks well. Vapors tell a story of sweet sticky caramel malts and aromatic floral hoppy goodness. Monster bisquit sweet malty backbone and big (but not overpowering) herbal hops providing grapefruit and orange-like zest. Very nice slightly oily body and smooth carb. Very good beer. Would buy it, no question.
