A complex yet smooth blend of bold dark malts revealing hints of chocolate, coffee and toffee paired with a lovely hop character.

12 oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark pour, but still clear. Small beige foamy head. Nutty, roasty aroma. Taste follows with more solid roast, light sweetness. Classic example of the style.

Unknown vintage; drank 10/17/15 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small khaki head; nice lace.
Acorn, maple syrup & a hint of smoke in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fall leaves & maple syrup flavors up front; brown sugar & faint cinnamon notes on the finish.
Really nice flavors but this is kind of watery; I wish it was bolder. Still good.

Poured into a glass mug.
The appearance was a mild dark brown color with a small cap of an off white foamy head sliding off at a decent pace. Some messy lace ran around the glass fairly nice after a small cap of a white foamy head fell off.
The aroma had some dark bready malty tones colliding with some dark fruits, nuts and roasty tones. Slight earthiness.
The flavor leaned into the sweet malty side initially and seemed to open up with some roastiness and a tad of earthiness. Slight aftertaste of dark fruits, dark chocolate, roast and earth.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable sort of strength about it. Carbonation felt a tad under than expected. ABV felt good. Good finish of nuts, dark fruits, roast and earthiness coming in somewhat dryly but with a smooth sort of way about it.
Overall, pretty nice as a brown ale, I'd say this leans more towards the English style than the American one.

Pours dark brown with khaki thick head, notes of nutty brown sugar laced with a nice drop of hop to round it off.

Pours a clear brown, with a small dusting of off-white head. Aroma is nutty with a touch of roasted notes. The flavor is slightly sweet, with more roast then nut characteristics coming through. Not a bad nut brown ale, although I'd prefer a little more nutty notes to come through.

From notes 7/22/12: Pours a clear dark brown producing a 2 finger, tan, frothy head that leaves only a few webs of lace as it recedes. Aroma is mild bready, toasted malt with faint caramel, nuts and smoke. Taste is dark malt, roasted nuts, sweet caramel, some dark chocolate, pepper and light smoke. The finish is dry, peppery and lightly bitter. Aftertaste is lightly burnt and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
