Serves up a rich, silky brown color with a creamy and dense head. The head was short lived but the beer laced in sheets.

Dry chocolate malts hit the nose, albeit weakly, with a maple pecan nutty sweetness.

The flavors are nice but just too weak. Dry chocolate, maple sweetness, nutty pecan and maybe a touch of fudge, this is tasty but again not full enough.

The feel is easy and drinkable but insinuates the lack of heft in flavor.

For the price this is excellent, $1.79 a bottle, but you can't help but see that this needs a bit more umph to make it excel.

Pours an opaque deep brown with amber highlights and a frothy khaki head that slowly dissipates, leaving spotty lacing.

Nutty, toasted malt, fruity specialty malt undertones, and a hint of metallic character form the aroma. Earthy hops and light citrus add contrast.

Flavor follows suit, with earthy hops forming a base to contrast nutty, toasted malt at the backbone. Citrus underlies somewhat subtly. Malt definitely dominates, but burnt toast and resiny bitterness finishes.

Body is moderate, as is carbonation. There's a bit of harsh astringency at the finish.

The bitterness is more pronounced than in most examples of the style. Good malt character. Metallic aroma was slightly offputting.
