Picked up a bottle of this for $7.99 marked down from 12.99. Into a tulip.

A - Very deep dark brown with a 1/2 inch of mocha head that pulls back to just a layer of head.
S - Smells of pure funk, tons of brett with sour apple and vinegar goodness. Has some oaky barrel character and some fruity notes but mostly sour notes.
T - Well it's not overly sweet like some people note but not overly sour or overwhelming. I actually enjoy it mostly funky sour like some apple vinegar tones with some sour cherry twang, and plums with some oak finish.
M - For such a high ABV it drinks medium bodied with a constant sour twang.

Overall I was impressed with this one not so much to buy again but it was a good one off. Not too sour or sweet or even dry it drank rather good.

This pour was very unusual in the coloration, which appeared orange brown and translucent during the poring, but in the glass, it looked very deep red, bordering on black. The head was about two fingers thick at first, and then dissipated down to under one finger thick. The smell of the beer was very strong, and was wafting away from the glass without the need to bring it to the nose. There was strong oak barrel smell, along with the brett, which probably lurked in the nooks and crannies of the same. The taste was keeping up with the funky theme, with sour highly aged taste reminiscent of a Flanders Red. This is an intentional effect, as the aging process involved in this beer and the Belgian style is very similar. When other beers say funky, they usually add a bit of Brett character and call it a day. This one goes for the full "funk you" treatment. I love the resulting creation. The ABV is listed at 9.5%, but it is not evident at all, so make sure you be careful when sampling this. Beautiful beer.

Was trying to find this for many weeks and was able to buy a couple. Had one about three months ago and now reviewing this aged slightly less than a year.

Pours an almost black ale with a nice staying beige head. Didn’t want to go away. Decent lacing.

Getting a lot of barrel in the nose. Dark fruits, rubber, brown sugar, light chocolate, green apple and whiskey. The barrel is still very present though not overpowering.

The taste has gotten better with age. Three months ago this was much too sweet but this is blending nicely as it sits. The sweetness is still present, but it’s morphing into a more well-rounded beast. Underlining hope bite and a slight pepper kick on the swallow. The rye shows through on the aftertaste and leaves a lingering impression.

Overall I like the attempt but I can see where the overwhelming sweetness could put some people off. It’s definitely different. I love the attempt and while it’s not on par with some of there other brews, this was a fun and unique flavor experience.

Bottle dated 2/18/2013. Batch No. 2. Bottle neck label says "L’chaim sucka" so you know you are in for some fun. Pours deep dark brown with a dark kahki brown head. Smell is crazy. A combination of sour beer and chocolate, with something that reminds me if wine. Smells sweet with some citrus. Bit if the rye whiskey and oak on the nose, too. flavor is sweet up front with chocolate and lots of molasses. Fades into sweet black cherries and sour vinegar. Rye whiskey is present but it is not too boozy. Sweet lingering aftertaste on the palate. Like a slightly sour cherry cordial. Pretty heavy beer, with low-to-medium carbonation. Had no clue what to expect with this, but it actually turned out rather nicely. No single word to describe this. It is certainly funky. Share the bomber, just too much sweet for one.

Poured into pint glass at brewery during tasting event

A- Dark brown, thick, viscous looking, little tan head

S- a hint of whiskey, funk, sour, malts

T- It's an all out assault on the taste buds. There is a presence of whiskey, bourbon, and wham! slam dunk the funk! Sour!

M- Thick, chewy, tart

O- I'm glad I got to try this magical concoction and I appreciate the depth and the complexity of flavors. However, it just quite isn't my cup of tea...

Not sure where to start on this one. A lot of things going on, and not all of them go together.

Dark pour, no head.

Smell of chocolate and cherry and other tart fruit.

Taste starts out sweet, followed closely by the tart fruit, then the bitterness. not a good hop bitter, but something not quite right. Too many things going on.

Not a fan of this one.
