This beer was a deep mahogany brownish color. Poured on tap and very little residual lace, almost non-existent. The aroma included hints of leather, and raisin, but the predominate smell of wet paper and whiskey.
It's taste was acidic and sour to start but finished very clean. Hard to describe how it the alcohol hits your palate, They taste is there, then faded. For the amount of alcohol in this beer, I could not taste it. Well blended
Drinkable from a well balanced abv point of view, but underwhelming on the taste factor. This beer was incredibly thin and underwhelming. After a few sips this beer clearly warmed my belly up.
If you are into freaky, sour, aged beers, then this might be something you will like. I'll probably never reach for it again. For the number of different beers used to make this blended selection, one would think that it might be a bit more complex. Not so much. I think they missed the mark on this one.

Really excited to try this one, had never seen or heard of it before but a beer that's made up of seven different aged beers sounds GLORIOUS! Hopefully it tastes half as good as it sounds. This is the 2014 vintage

A: very very dark crimson brown, looks black until you hold it up to a light, with a thin quickly dissipating light khaki brown head.

S: Aromas of very strong sour ales, can't get much more than that, maybe once it warms...

T: initially very sour. The mid-palate of this beer is where I get kind sidetracked and the after taste is where I get completely lost - not in a bad way but in a way that makes it hard to describe accurately what is going on in this beast. There is some strong maltiness at least for a sour, not overpowering but pretty noticeable for this style of beer. waiting a bit for is not a bad idea with this one. picking up a slight dried fruit aftertaste, raisins or dates. There is also some metallic taste to this in the mid-palate perhaps from the yeast strain used. Great sour factors here but subsides after 4 or 5 sips, then there is a pleasant sweetness to it, unfortunately the rye from r.i.p.a. and the bourbon whiskey is lost in translation.

O.A. : I wish there was a little more complexity in the beer for all the different ales that were used to mix this one, still very good to try if you like unique and sour aged beers.

Pours a maroonish amber with an off white head. Aroma is dark fruits, a touch of roastiness, minimal rye spiciness, and minor bourbon barrel presence. Flavor threw me for a loop from what I was expected based on the aroma, in a very good way. Sweet and slightly tart raspberry, a little pitted dark fruit, sourdough bread, a toached of roastiness and chocolate, rye, and a touch of bourbon barrel. Medium bodied mouthfeel, with nothing unique about it. Overall, solid and enjoyable beer.

On tap at the Chimes, Covington, LA

A: Blackish with a frothy tan half-finger head that sits. Lots of thick lacing.

S: Fruity, featuring cherries and plums, vanilla and caramel with a woodiness.

T: A big surprise when the sour tartness popped up. Then things turned a bit more predictable with tasty molasses, chocolate, caramel and some bitterness.

M: Medium with medium carbonation.

O: Not what I was expecting. The sourness really turned me off, whereas others may like it. A really weird taste. Not really to my liking.

On tap at Old Bay in New Brunswick, NJ. Served in a snifter.

Appearance: Pours a dark ruby red, almost black. About 1/2 finger of head on top. Not much lacing.

Smell: Sweet whiskey, some fruit, and a faint whiff of brett.

Taste: Sweet whiskey, vanilla, and molasses up front. Dominated by jammy fruit in the middle. And just enough tart sour in the end to balance things out. Very nice.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a long finish. Just a little bit of mouth pucker at the end.

Overall: Very good and very unique - a nice blend of barrel aging and sourness. Everything works really well together.

Poured from a 22oz. bomber.

Pours a deep, deep red almost rusty brown. Two fingers of tan head lingers for quite sometime, before disappating to a thing ring. Bubbles are small and tight.

Smells, well funky. Surprised by the sourness and until I tasted it it left me a bit confused. Smells of oak, cherries, jam, plumbs, vanilla, caramel and a bit of bakers chocolate.

Tastes straight jammy chocolate. So much dark fruit. I bought this on a whim and had no idea it was supposed to be sour. It is tart, but not overly so. On this warm night in NC it's very refreshing. Mouth feel is pretty much spot on for the taste.

Overall I really love this surprise. Will probably purchase another and sit on it for a few months to a year and compare notes.
