From notes 2/4/13: Pours a clear deep brown producing 3 fingers of tight and finely bubbled, dark tan, moderately lasting head that recedes to a thin, solid surface cap that leaves a little webby lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and boozy, dark fruit esters of fig and prune, some cherry, dark chocolate, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, burnt and roasted malts, anise and an herbal/earthy hoppiness. Bittersweet (heavier to sweet and boozy alcohol spice finish and aftertaste. Mouthfeel is heavy bodied, syrupy, smooth with alcohol warmth/spice and low-moderate carbonation bite. This is a high octane malt bomb on steroids with an unusual hop profile for the style. In all aspects this is an unusual beer that should probably be relegated to a style of its own!

This was the first He'Brew beer I had and it was instant love it has a great ale quality with a nice bourbon taste that lingers on your tongue and leaves you wanting more, the bourbon feeling warms the belly and leaves a wonderful aftertaste.

22oz bottle poured into a teku, bottle is about 3 years old at this point
A- pours dark brown, almost black with a creamy and frothy khaki colored head that retains long after the pour, leaving some nice lacing behind
S- very smoky aroma, almost rauchbier-like, smoked peat, smoked meat, chocolate, toasted grains, hints of caramel and toffee
T- sweet and malty up front with notes of chocolate cake with chocolate icing, caramel/toffee, faded traces of hop bitterness, alcohol, smoked malt, smoked meat and coffee on the linger
M- heavy body with low carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and a thick and chewy finish, just a hint of alcohol warmth on the linger, perfect mouthfeel
O- I never had this fresh, but I imagine that it couldn't be nearly as good as a 3 year old body. The ABV is hidden brilliantly with a perfect mouthfeel
