Pours a hazy, golden/maize color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of hops, wheat, sweet malt, slight pale malt, pine, and a hint of metallic aromas. Fits the style of an American Pale Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, pale malt, hint of wheat, slight metallic notes, hops, and pine. Overall, great appearance, but aroma and body have metallic notes that are not favorable. Otherwise, a simple, but decent example of an American Pale Lager.

12 ouncer

Cloudy. dull golden in color. Eggshell head, moderate in size and going to a thicker collar anddecent looking scattered bits of lace.

Oranges/citrus on the nose

More lite citrus/oranges on the palate with some piney hop presence.
Dry with a moderate lager snap in the finish.

Pretty tasty, quite refreshing. I'm thinking this would be a pretty good warm weather swigger. Lager with a respectable citric hop bite. Hmmm...not bad stuff..

2013 12 oz bottle poured into a Belgian snifter.

Appearance: Body is hazy apricot color with a small head that soon reduces to a ring. Lacing is on the light side.

Smell: Hops are prominent and contribute both grassy and citrus qualities.
Taste: Quite hoppy and fruity for a lager; more than a little similar to an APA. Does have the crisp and clean qualities of a fine lager.

Feel: Light bodied with crisp moderate carbonation. Clean, dry finish.

Overall: an exceptionally hoppy with no loss of drinkability and a clean lager finish. Should appeal to anyone who likes an APA. Refreshing and recommended.

REVIEWING: avid’s Slingshot Hoppy Summer Lager

I have LOVED every single offering that I have had from the Hebrew Chosen Beer styles since I began drinking these crafty Shmaltz Brewing Company beers .

My expectations were dealt a blow as I expected a hop wallop due the namesake "David's Slingshot" - so either way I guess I was clearly dealt a blow. Seemed awfully "wheaty/blonde" to me - which is the style of summer ales. Expected the crisp edge of an otherwise smooth lager.

This is the bottom of the Hebrew Beers for my preference. However, my indifference here is not entirely the fault of Shmaltz as I do not generally like beers styled as "summer beers" nor do I favor "wheaty" beers.

A: Golden, crisp and clear - as expected in a clean lager
S: Domestically musky, slight citrus edge
T: Wheaty, grainy
M: Thicker body than expected, grainy

Won't be having this one again - but 'summer beer' fans may LOVE it.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Are we finally getting some of those oft-praised hoppy lagers New Englanders are always talking about? Here's hoping... This stuff pours a clear pale brass topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises light lemon rind, grass, light mint, and a touch of white bread in the background. The taste finds that bread awash in a sea of soap, pine resin, and light moss. With a flavor this abrasive, it's no wonder David prevailed... The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a thoroughly fluid feel. Overall, this stuff just didn't sit well with me. It seems to me the hop combination didn't mesh at all, and the apparently delicate base just couldn't provide any answer to the carnage.

Damn people are lazy just 1 review and 25 hads?

A - Pours a silght hazy bright yellow with a pillow of head around and inch that sticks around forever. Lacing is going to be stellar.
S - Grainy malt bill, sweeter malts, and some citrus hops but not as much as I would expect for a "hoppy" summer lager.
T - Wow is that harsh and grainy and the earthy hop bitterness really makes it sour like biting a lemon. Taste is somewhat balanced but I can't get over how floor cleaner tasting this is.
M - Medium bodied, Carbonated great but kind of undrinkable.

Overall I am pounding the rest since I don't drain pour but man is this beer bad. They took the skunky harsh graininess of a lager and tried to smooth it out with bitter herbal hops making for a harsh floor cleaner like hop experience. This might be the worst beer I ever had from these guys.

Pass if you can.
