I went here for the first time back in August to meet a few people for an early dinner. It's a pretty unassuming place right in downtown Reading. It has it's own parking lot right next to it but there's plenty of street parking as well. Inside you walk into a big square bar that serves to all sides and there are several sets of taps. There are a few booths in the main bar area but there is an adjoining room with plenty more booths and tables for dining. The atmosphere is pretty much local appeal only. Not a lot of thought went into the decor here and it doesn't offer a very appealing atmosphere although it seems clean enough and reasonable enough to eat without any distractions. But it doesn't have any real character in my opinion. I was really pleasantly surprised by the selection. As noted in the previous review, it wasn't anything great but there were a few goodies to get my interest. As regular local bars go, the selection was very good, but as beer bar goes it would be pretty average at best. The quality of the few i had seemed decent, but nobody there seemed to know much of anything about the beers other than, they're "good", or "not my favorite". Service was friendly and if you're in Reading, this is not such a bad place to stop in for a beer. Food was fine, though forgettable. Pricing was definitely friendly as well.

Grumpy's is the only place in the area of the 128/93 intersection for better beer.
It's mostly a bar - the proper tables seem to be an after-thought, as the big square bar and flat tops dominate the front when you walk in. Downtown-Boston type bar decor - modern and clean. Several flat screens over the bar usually showing sports - they have the MLB & NFL packages.
Selection is decent but not great. Troegginator, Wachusett Larry, Long Trail Seasonals are regulars, and a few other rotating geeky drafts make the rounds. Ipswich Original Ale always on draft, which is a plus in my book.
Prices are better than any in the Boston area. $5.75 for a full pint of Larry? $4.50 for a full pint of Ipswich? Sold.
Service is really friendly & quick, though the barkeeps are not necessarily knowledgeable about geek beers. No biggie to me.
Food has been uneven. Sometimes well executed, sometimes not so much. Oddly enough, the mains seem to be better than the apps.
This is a comfortable place to meet some friends & enjoy some craft beers at reasonable prices.
