Vom fass at Maulwurf in Vaihingen. Love when it’s served in the appropriate glass, both by style and branding. Just a good ole classic German Pils. Tasty, nothing remarkable.

De Labirratorium. En copa Teku. Revisa do C20 Ch12. Sensación limpia y ligera pero no aguada, con un buen fondo maltoso y un amargor que lo complementa muy bien incitando a beber más.

Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized, stable head.
Smells of floral hops, grass and wet hay among a lighter note of toffee.
Has a very light, partially aqueous body, with a late effervescence, creating an easy drinking refreshment.
Tastes of an initial noble hop dryness, complimented by an aqueous softness and a whiff of white bread dough. Turns sweeter, maltier then with a watery gap an no more hops to speak of. Finishes grassy, with regained balance from reappearing hops, copper, toffee and bread rind.
A solid, light Pilsener with a slight lack of hops and therefore balance.

Nice clear straw color that pours easily. Notes of fresh cut grass, hops, and pear. Perfectly balanced pils that is light, crisp, and full flavor. You will be hard pressed to find a better one anywhere in the world. My absolute favourite pilsener.

On tap in a ceramic krug. Bready malts and a slight honey note on the aroma. Taste follows, balanced, malty with bread crust at first and slightly hoppy on the finish. Medium, soft body crisp carbonation. Decent but not one of the best in its style.

Pours a brilliant (excellent clarity) pale golden-straw in color, topped with a billowing off-white head. Very good head retention lacing on the sides of the glass.
Nose is very lightly grassy, with a pleasant grainy (fresh malted barley) character dominating. Lighter hop character, lightly sharp/tangy. "Soft" is my overall impression. A bit bready...
Sweet-tangy/sharp hop twang on the first sip, with an excellent balance of bitterness coming up just after the midpoint of the palate and lingering towards the finish. BAM! This one nails the style.
Hops profile is -as suggested by the nose-- a bit soft, but is excellent for what it is, and especially as this beer is only a few months old. In another few months that delicate balance of sharp/bitter/tangy hop character versus the bready malts and excellent grain character will be lost!
A lighter sweetness asserts itself as the drink progresses, but it never becomes cloying or burdensome. Very good drinkability overall, and very good for the style, also.
I could drink this beer all-day long. If only...
Final thought: "Fresh Pils! What's not to love?"
Well, I don't love the fact that I can't get this one at my local package store (imagine if you will, my sad panda face, folks). On the other hand I am happy enough that someone in Illinois had the presence of mind to bring this particular (very good to exceptional) example of German Pils into the upper midwest. It is absolutely worth seeking out if you enjoy the style.
Now comes the real trick: Keeping it fresh and in-stock for everyone to try! :)
Standard, brown .500 L export bottle -- Packaged in July (one year best-by code) 2015.

330ml bottle poured into a shaker pint. Date on the bottle is 23.10.2015. Traveled here from Germany in a suitcase.
Pours clear yellow with little head and lots of carbonation. Smell is mildly sweet with a fresh cut grass theme. A little lemon.
Taste is mildly sweet, a little yeasty, crisp finish, more of that grass.
Mouthfeel is extremely effervescent. Overall, not a bad pilsner.

I've had this beer many times on my travels to southern Germany.
Pours a clear gold with a large foamy head. Good retention and lacing. Smell is noble hops and lots of them. Grassy and herbal aromas abound. Taste is a crisp malt taste balance by the floral hops. A touch of citrus adds to the refreshing flavor. Finish is lingering and bitter with a grassy hop aftertaste. Body is medium with good carbonation and a nice refreshing mouthfeel. Overall, one of my favorite pilsners.

Delicate malt backbone with an aggressive hop presence. Leaves, weeds, and herbs upfront turns to spicy garlic in the finish. Fresh hop flavor, yet stale tasting at the same time. I believe this bottle may be old, however. Still a solid German pilsener.
