Bottle with a cool flip top, lets open the beer from the Black Forest.

On pour got a lovely crystal clear golden colour and a nice white head that appeared.

Nice bit of carbo, bubbling away.

Head does thin out but maintains and the colour does fade a little, not as sparkling on pour.

Got a lovely initial smell of malts, all really pleasant on the nose but faint. But I also detected some hot spicy aromas which was interesting!

Nice big mouthfuls. Tasted wheat, grain, malts, altogether not a bad taste at all and very smooth.

Very smooth, must be the good waters from the streams near the Black Forest, I guess!

Good creamy mouthfuls, soft on the tongue.

A Good beer that was lovely and smooth.

Not particularly hoppy, to me at least. Easy to drink, refreshing, and very well balanced. It is not going to set the world alight, but I liked it.

Yields a crystal clear, golden color with a medium sized, stable head.

Smells of toffee coated white bread dough, softened by hay and wheat.

Has a great mouthfeel, very soft on the tongue with a nice, bubbly finish among a light body.

Tastes of wheat, bread and a soft stony mineral quality, which gets enriched by a short lasting herbal dryness. More strawy qualities during the finish, balanced by the dough. Hops are there in the faintest fashion, more herbal than dry, on the other hand the beer does not turn overly sweet and malty during the finish, but pretty much maintains its initial qualities throughout.

Nice and refreshing, relying completely on its great balance.

At the brewery tasting room.

Color is light gold with a creamy white head. Retention and lacing are good. Smell is herbal hops and white bread. Flavor is similar, with a malty backbone with a small helping of the herbal hops. Overall, its on the sweet side for my personal tastes, but a very drinkable and enjoyable beer.

33cl Flip-top bottle: BBD 20 Mar 2014, poured into a tumbler on my hotel room pation on 15 Sep 2013. I'd brought this over the Alps with me to Ste Maxime because I knew how expensive beer was in the South of France.

Lovely golden body with a fine white covering for a head.

Slight malt sweetness in both the nose and taste: I really liked this brew.

There was a nice blend of herbal hop notes and caramel/malty molasses which married together very well: soft bodied and far to easy to drink.

I didn't even notice it was a Marzen when I bought it on the way down in Bad Krozingen, otherwise I might have found room for more.

Appearance: Pale gold; small head, long lasting; very effervescent (most I've ever seen)

Aroma: Malty; light hops; bready; light citrus

Taste: Juicy; malty; very creamy; low bitterness; fairly sweet, but pretty well balanced; not complex, but very tasty

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores
