A great place to check out when in Fort Collins. Its not really walkable from the downtown area, but its not that far that its out of the question. Most definitely bikeable.

Tap selection was quite large, and I really appreciated how clean everything looked. The food was good, but I am not sure if they source local or not. I'd say it was family friendly, at least during the day, with a long bar, as well as numerous tables that you could count on waiteresses coming by.

If you have not been here, check it out. It's a craft beer worthy place.

Atmosphere: Dimly lit and spacious with a huge bar and projector above the bar showing an up-to-date list of all the beer on tap. Looked like a college-age crowd. Usual busy bar volume level.

Quality: Good beer, if you order what you like to drink.

Service: We ordered flights and some appetizers and they all came without a long wait.

Selection: Here's where this place really outdoes itself, offering 100 or so beers on tap. Was fortunate to try PtE, Enjoy By, and some of the more rare DFH releases.

Food: Standard bar fare.

Value: Don't remember since I wasn't the one who picked up the tab but I don't recall being shocked by the flight price on the menu.

When I walked in the door, I thought, "Alright, this place is not terrible, definitely not a dive bar." But that thought was quickly followed by, "Not really anything special or different from the other bars around Fort Collins, either."

It was midday, around three in the afternoon on a Friday. The place wasn't very crowded so i expected to be greeted quickly. I was, a man walked up, dropped two menu's and quickly left. I figured he would be back shortly. I waited nearly ten minutes before I was greeted by a short gal. She asked if I'd had time to decide what I wanted, seeming frazzled and like I should hurry so she could get back to other more important things. I had several questions regarding the 100 beers they had on tap, I do not enjoy IPA's or Fruit Beers and I wanted her opinion on their selection of ambers and porters. However, her demeanor made me think asking questions would only put her in a more frazzled state.

I looked down and chose an amber beer at random, picking solely off the name. She asked if I wanted food as well. My first thought was, "If this is your attitude, why would I want to stay for more than one beer?" I said possibly and she retreated without a second glance.

She did deliver my beer quickly, but the beer itself left much to be desired. It just didn't suit my palate and I can't help but wonder if she had been more pleasant if I would have been able to find a beer that hit the spot.

I wandered to the bar after my first beer in hopes of talking with the bartender more about their beers. Instead of being helpful, he made me feel less than welcome and like my questions were a nuisance. Needless to say, I did not order a second beer.

I left feeling like I wore jeans and t-shirt to a black tie event and with a bitter taste in my mouth. I will not be back.

The Mayor of Old Town boasts "the largest beer selection in Fort Collins". While they do have an impressive amount of beers on tap, the wide array of beers can not distract from the terrible service. The wait staff spends the majority of their time standing by the bar, looking at their phones and while I was there, I even heard two of the staff gossiping and bad mouthing their tables. Not to make matters worse, the owners seem more focused on downing drinks with their friends at their special reserved table, than they do on ensuring that their staff are well trained and paying attention to their customers.

I enjoyed the beer selection, but the poor service, terrible food and general disinterest the owners show in their establishment will not have me returning.

Like something straight out of the pages of Architectural Digest, The Major of Old Town is a beautiful building both inside and out. Featuring a bright, spotlessly clean interior and an inviting, relaxing atmosphere, the Feng Shui is strong with this one.

Your eyes are drawn to the left as you enter through the main entrance to behold a line of 100 taps of literally the finest craft beer brewed anywhere on the planet. The quality, diversity and the freshness of their selection is unequaled in my experience.

The staff of the Mayor are friendly and welcoming, well trained and knowledgeable.

The kitchen prepares delicious food, served up in generous portions that is almost as pleasurable to look at as it is to taste.

If a quality experience, service and product are what you are after, look no further than The Mayor of Old Town located in a quaint town in a gorgeous part of the country.

I really can't say enough good things about The Mayor, in my opinion, The Mayor of Old Town is without a doubt, in a League of it's Own.

The Mayor of Old Town is one of the best places in town to find whatever beer you are looking for. The selection cannot be beat in Fort Collins and the staff is great at recommending beers you would like based on your tastes. Common link has put some of the best food in town with the best beers. Try the uncommon burger with Odell IPA cheese spread it'll change your life. It can get a bit loud at night when they get busy so it's not for people that like a quite place to sit and drink. Overall one of the best drinking experiences in town. Oh, and if it's The Walking Dead time of year come on a Sunday and watch one of the best shows on T.V. with and get a beer. Awesome!

Totally overrated. Skip this Vegas-esque bar and head to Choice City or Tap and Handle. Overpriced, overrated, no atmosphere, etc. With all the great beer bars and breweries in Fort Collins, this would be my last choice. The beers are expensive and the glasses are dirty.

Have you ever been to a bar that you can't help but feel like it thinks it's better than you? That's the Mayor in a nutshell. Overpriced, snooty, and with spotty service (especially during the day), this bar is well worth missing. Ft Collins has so many amazing beer bars, and bars in general, that do things FAR better than The Mayor. The atmosphere is sterile, unwelcoming, and cold....especially for the city, and especially since there are so many better bars so don't waste your time or money on this place. Ew.

I've been here twice. The first time I was blown away at how very little the staff knew about the beer. I'd heard about this place before I moved here and had very high expectations based on reviews and articles, but there are a couple dozen places I would recommend before The Mayor if you're visiting FC. I tried giving them a second chance and experienced the same disappointment.

You're gonna pay more than you expect. If you have a question about a beer they have, just google it, because the staff, though possibly nice to look at, probably won't be able to tell you the most basic thing about the style, let alone the beer itself. They'll "have to ask the bartender" and then bring you the beer you asked about without confirming that obnoxiously floral is what you wanted.

Seems like just another spot that has hopped on the beer bandwagon without really being a part of it.
Also the food was disappointing--sadly, as a general rule, this goes for most of FC.

Bottomline: If you're visiting and want something local hit Tap N Handle, O'Dell while the food trucks are out, or Choice City and get the Colorado Ruben; skip this joint.

I have tried to like this place and I just cannot enjoy it. Sure having 100 tap handles is cool and everything but I think we all know it's not about the size but how you use it. If you're looking to hand your money to people who really don't care about the beer this is a place for you. If you enjoy being talked down to this is a place for you. I cannot say my entire experience there was negative, walking outside into the fresh air was the best. There is an excellent deli with an amazing beer selection about 2 blocks away. Cheers!

A nice place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is kinda stale and polished but not bad or offensive. If the servers were more beer geeks and less generic college students, that would go a long way in improving the vibe here, imo. The beer selection is awesome though and certainly makes up for any shortcoming in atmosphere. Tons and tons of beers on tap, lots of great choices.. Service was fine on this slow weekday lunch trip though I could see during a busy rush things being slow and choppy. I didn't get that though. Food here is definitely decent, wouldn't go here for the food but also wouldn't feel the need to eat elsewhere beforehand. Overall, a a very nice place to go if the focus is solely on the beer. I will be back and I look forward to it.

Now that they've been open a year, it's time for a re-review.

I no longer patronize the mayor. Over the last year or so, the quality of service has taken a dive. Last few trips in, it took nearly 20 minutes to get beer to the table. Considered ordering my next beer as the first was delivered.

Servers make educated choices, but not great ones. Sometimes it's downright impossible to flag a server down.

Selection is still mostly good. Some breweries have gone missing, such as Russian River (there's a story behind it.) Limited releases at the mayor are becoming more and more scarce.

Crowd is less and less beer people, and more the frat pack crowd. Room is still terribly noisy, and any day of the week after work will require yelling to communicate. Still very much a sterile clean room, for better or worse.

They do a good job keeping beer fresh and cool. Pricing is all over the place, but never truly unreasonable. No complaints in this department.

The owner I simply can't deal with. Between getting into playboy, and the aforementioned distribution issues, it seems that he has enough money to throw around that he won't miss me. I still wish him the best. A lot of people still like this place.

Along with Odell and New Belgium, this was a must stop place on my 24 hour stay in Fort Collins. It was pretty crowded for an early afternoon but we managed to snag a couple seats at the long bar. I was a bit surprised to find that they were checking IDs at the door so early in the day, but I guess with the close proximity to Colorado State this might be a necessity. The place has a pretty sleek/modern/trendy feel, but they definitely know their beer. The selection is huge with plenty of Colorado brews, a few odd imports, and a well-picked selection of west coast beers (Russian River, The Bruery, etc.). Beer is fresh, prices are reasonable. The only food I had was a pretzel to soak up some of the booze, which was also quality. The rest of the menu sounded awesome. Worth a stop.

The Mayor is a nice place. The beer selection is extensive with 100 beers on tap. They frequently have beers that are hard to find elsewhere. However, it's kind of like cable TV- 100 channels and nothing on. I find that sometimes they don't have anything that I want. The servers are generally friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. They are a little too reluctant to provide samples of beers- after all, they have a lot of beers that most people have never tasted before. The problem is that when you are paying $8 for a beer, you don't want to get stuck with one that you don't like. We ordered sandwiches and they were very tasty and reasonably priced. But the beers are very pricey and there is NEVER A HAPPY HOUR- EVER. Most beers are $6 for a pint but double IPAs and other higher ABV beers are $8 for an 8- ounce glass. I just cannot afford to visit this place often- particularly when there are so many other bars in Fort Collins with a good selection and $2-3 pints.

Great place! Nice beer selection that is always rotating to bring in different beers from all over. Atmosphere is calm with little for decorations, but it fits the mood they are going for. Drinks are a bit pricy, but worth it for most of the brews... Plus, it keeps out the party crowd since its adjacent to a major college. Despite being across the street from the campus, the crowd is mixed and never loud/crazy as you would find at a "college bar". The wait staff is very knowledgeable about their products considering the rate in which they rotate new beers, showing that they must go through a training course and have to try a large number of them if not all. This place is doing great things for the culture in this beer mecca!

Finally got to try this place today along the way of our brewery tour. First thing that stood out was the railway running along the middle of road. Kinda cool.

Old looking exterior...like a 60s Denny's or something. Inside is more modern, a bit sterile and "clean". Nothing wrong with that.
Tables and booths. An upstairs section, not all that big, but I didn't venture up yonder.
Place had just opened, few people. Service was friendly as we sat at the bar. Knowledgeable about beer, that helps.
100 taps along the wall, plus some bottles. Projection of beer menu above the bar. Easy to read. Listed left to right, light to dark. Nitro on the far end.
We had simple food; sammiches. They were good, perhaps a squidge expensive, but nothing to bitch about.
Selection was quite diverse, mostly domestic micros with some internationals.

Overall a great place. Would like to back in the Spring during some busy hours.

Went to this place on a business trip as suggested by some friends... glad I did. The selection is great... 100 beers on draft that rotate regularly. The menus print out daily with changes, so there is no need to ask what's "seasonal" or special. There is also a projector above the bar that shows the real-time beer list, which includes icons and highlighted beers that won awards. Occasionally have rare beer release parties as well from local and other well known breweries. I guess my only knock on the beer selection would be that they only have one or two offerings from each brewery, sometimes only having some of the more mediocre beers. The service was good and they use appropriate glassware for each beer. Flights are a generous portion for a low price. The food is good, as long as you are only interested in a sandwich, breakfast or pizza... otherwise you're SOL.

Stopped by in between lunch at Big City Burrito and dinner at Pizza Casbah.

I was fairly pumped up to visit this place do to incessant talking up by my brother in law. Walked in and was greeted by a aseptic looking industrial feeling bar. Not much on the walls, and really, not much character. It was fairly dead so we had a pick of seats. The first place we sat, we ended up having to move because the sun was making it impossible to see the projectors that constantly update the tap list. We moved to a table closer to the bar that allowed us to see what was on tap. Even though it was fairly dead, and their were a couple waitresses we had to wait a bit to be served. After a conversation with the waitress about beer and from being form out of town, it seemed like out service greatly improved. The tap list was good. They had several beers that I hadn't had on tap before which is fantastic. Overall, I just didn't get the vibe of the place. They had a great tap list but I would rather go somewhere that had a better vibe. Also, with all the great local breweries, I find it hard for a beer bar not to have a good beer bar. Your surrounded by good beer.

Nice atmosphere - you can actually have a conversation with the person on the other side of the table (a rarity in most bars near campus). Clean. Not a lot of character to the place, other than the 100 taps on one wall.

As stated by someone earlier, they use appropriate glassware. Kinda nice to drink out of something other than a pint glass.

Service is timely and efficient, and also lacking in beer knowledge. A little disappointing, but not enough to keep me from frequenting.

Selection is pretty great. Lots of colorado brews along with some more novel beers from the coasts.

Food is delicious.

Overall, I'm pretty thankful for the Mayor. It's nice to have something offered on tap other than the locals.

100 beers on tap...what a selection! A lot of local brews, but I didn't really mind that given I was out there on vacation and getting a handful of Russian River beers that are not readily available in PA was pretty awesome! We went in the middle of the afternoon, and it was pretty empty. I was told that it does get pretty crowded, and I can see why. With that selection, and the extremely knowledgeable staff...this place is basically a beer lover's dream. I had already been to two bars prior to visiting the Mayor, so I didn't drink too much while there, but everything I did have was awesome.

I really enjoyed talking to the staff and having them recommend different brews based off of what I was looking for. Very useful! I did think their prices were a bit high, especially for the local brews, but not annoyingly so. I didn't eat anything other than a soft pretzel while there, but I do believe they have a decent menu. Look at for a college crowd here...they are located right off of a major campus. Overall, an excellent experience and a wonderful place...I will go back if I am ever in Fort Collins again!

I'd have to say this was the best place I visited while in CO, and it's all thanks to a random encounter with a fellow beer enthusiast that my wife and I met at Equinox Brewing--also a quality establishment, and only a stone's throw away.

Tucked away, just on the cusp of the college district (I don't even think the place has a sign out front), this place is truly what makes Ft. Collins the "Mecca" that people claimed it to be. Innocent, nondescript exterior, contemporary design inside, a bar that holds maybe 25-30 people, and ample space and seating for others.

100 beers...on tap. 100. Accompanying that, are hundreds of pieces of glassware of all kinds, for proper service of said frothy beverages. But the highlight was--and I've never seen anything like this--a digital taplist. On the wall above the bar, every beer on tap was monitored and kept updated on what was essentially a digital scoreboard. Okay, so I like the classic chalkboard technique, but this was really something else, and I give it a thumbs up.

Service was friendly and knowledgeable all around. I only sampled an appetizer, but it was very good, and everyone else's food looked good as well. Prices were reasonable, though it would be easy to get overwhelmed by the beer selection, and leave with an empty wallet.

This place alone made Ft. Collins worth the drive from Louisville, especially after a visit to that lousy Choice City place. My only regret is that we didn't have time to go back. But trust me, if I ever lived in Ft. Collins (which no amount of drugs could ever persuade me to do), I'd be at the Mayor of Old Town every day at least.

Went to the Mayor of Old Town yesterday afternoon. I love that they have 100 taps, but was really expecting more beers that aren't as available in the area. Tons of CO beers and a few good selections from the rest of the US and internationally. Hopefully they'll start to get some more obscure beers, surprised there were no Russian River beers at all.

I really like the projected menu (easy to update), but they really need to include style and ABV, as it's just brewery and beer right now. Was told the menu was arranged "light to dark", but there were many examples that did not fit that mold.

Our server was very nice, but didn't seem to know much about the beers and mixed up our beer order (gave each of the 3 people at my table each others beers). I ordered a La Trappe Quad and was giving a Hop Rod Rye, which my friend ordered. They were in the same style glass, so I didn't catch it until I took a sip. The guy w/ the Hop Rod rec'd an Arrogant Bastard, which was ordered by the other guy in our group (who got my quad).

I'll keep tabs on their taplist online and will return when interesting (to me) beers pop up, or when they add more info about each beer to the menu.

EDIT: OK, so I've been a few more times and the service is getting better and more knowledgeable. The selection seems to offer more and more obscure options now, so raising my score.
