A: Pours deep dark brown to the point where it appears black except just at the very edges. A vigorous pour produces a finger of thick tan head that dissipates down to a wisp and a ring that persists leaving good lacing.
S: You absolutely have to let this one warm up to the right temperature otherwise you are going to miss a lot. When cold all I was getting was the fruits with a little something else in the background. At the right temp, the aroma blossoms up with chocolate, slight coffee, smoke in the background and the dark fruit tones and a little piney hops.
T: Taste doesn't fall too far from the nose. The dark fruit is more in the background here than in the nose.
M: Even though this looks a little heavy when it pours it isn't. It's a medium bodied, lower end carbonation, dry yet it has a slight oily feel. There is a pleasant warming effect yet it isn't that strong of a beer.
D: Very complex and layered. Easy on the palette and good going down. Rich in flavor and enjoyable. This is a damn good porter and worth every sip. I feel as if this is a must try.

Poured into porter glass. It is very dark black with a caramel-colored head. Didn't leave much lace as I drank it. Aroma was roasted (burnt) coffee and a mild sweetness. My wife and I couldn't call the sweetness out by name until the next morning. I took a whiff of the warm remnants left in the glass and immediately picked up on raisins or prunes. Taste had average porter bitterness. Viscosity was above average and higher alcohol was apparent. Decent aftertaste. I think I actually served it too cold at first (maybe 40 deg or so). As it warmed, I really enjoyed it more.
