500ml bottle purchased at the '13 Goods from the Woods Festival at Oxbow, poured into respective festival glass.

A- Cap cracks off with a nice hissing sound leading to a somewhat slow-rising gusher (have that glass ready!). Pours a crystal clear golden with a nice 1.5-finger foamy/bubbly head that has nice retention receding to a thin wispy layer. Decent carbonation which is fairly fast rising and has a nice consistency.

S- Nice refined barnyard funk, a bit of hay, clean saison yeast, faint blueberries that blend in with the saison yeast, slight tart lemon peel, and a bit of oak. Fairly aromatic with a nice complexity.

T- Lightly tart lemons balancing with a hint of blueberries, light clean barnyard funk balancing with the saison yeast, finishes with tart lemon peel mixed with blueberries and a touch of oak. Nice clean saison qualities that meet a tamed funk and light tart fruits. The blueberry wine barrels add a nice uniqueness bringing out subtle balanced blueberry flavors.

M- Medium bodied, very clean, slightly acidic, carbonation adds a fizzy feeling on the palate, very easy drinking.

O- This was a nice unique barrel-aged saison that used great use of local fruit flavored wine barrels to produce a nice unique beer. I wouldn't say this is the best wine-barrel aged saison I've had but it definitely ranks among some of the better one's I've tried. This is without a doubt worth trying and I wish I picked up more bottles when I had the chance.

Split with rudzud.

Little eruption, creamy thick head, tons of lacing, semi clear golden honey colored.

Nose is all Brett, Brett c mostly, little Brett B funk and horsehair, nice pineapple and mild tropical like, hint of grainy malt, vinous barrel notes and mild sour.

Taste is basically more Brett, mild Brett B horsehair funk, little sour tart vinous berry note and barrel, lactic acid, mild grainy saison malt, bit of Brett c tropical notes. Finish is dry and flemmy, bit of lactic acid mild tannic bitter stem.

Mouth is med to lighter bod decent carb.

Overall pretty nice, lots of Brett and mild barrel notes, hint of blueberry tart wine.

Pour / Appearance: The bottle erupted. Not just foam but straight beer coming out. It was unpleasant to lose so much of the (very expensive) bottle and to need to clean off a table. So obviously there was a ton of carb, with a thick but quickly gone head. A yellow and orange hue in the glass, with the beer reflecting everything.

Aroma: Oranges, wood, light vanilla, black pepper, and big brett funk. Delectable, and I'm surprised that after 20 months in the wood it didn't pick up more of that. Not that I'm complaining, but huh! As it warms a bit more of the oak, namely vanilla, starts to become apparent.

Taste: Tons of brett and oak. Horse blanket and hints of cherry pie behind saison notes up front of pepper and tangerine. It's very interesting and complex, and the barrel certainly helped that. Full body and some fusel alcohols.

Overall: Worth the money and clean-up? No. As a beer, a very, very fine farmhouse saison made by two amazing brewers.

Bottom Line: Honestly I'd say avoid unless you really have a thing for the brewers or have money to blow. It's pretty amazing though. Maybe if you're really into wild ales (why I bought it) that'd work too.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear golden hue with a one finger creamy head that leaves wonderful lacing and a big creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of brett upon brett, sour funk, vinous blueberry wine barrels. Quite nice and appealing.

T - Taste is nice and sour tart barrel, delicious brett, funky blankets. There is a lingering bitter tannic note on the finish that doesn't jive with me. Aside from that this is nicely tasty.

M - Mouthfeel is super crisp, nicely carbonated. Very drinkable.

O - Overall I really enjoyed this beer, wish there wasn't this bitter tannic thing going on but yeah, this was worth it.

Another outstanding oxbow beer. I have been a huge BA FPA fan so was looking forward to this and was not disappointed.
Pours a fairly vibrant yet cloudy gold with white head that isn't too aggressive yet leaves plenty of spotty lace. Smells of a sweet citrus funk where I'm getting some orange and grapefruit peel. Taste and feel are great with an upfront slightly tart citrus with medium to high carbonation and a very dry finish. Surprised that there is so much carb given it was barreled for 20 months.

This fits into the other oxbow ba lineup as being amazing
