Thanks Cheeks. I think my first BA or wild Oxbow beer. I have had the base beer for this countless times and it is a favorite. Thinking of this aged on bugs is intriguing to say the least.

A- Pale yellow body from the 750ml to a tulip glass. A foamy head forms to just over one finger receding to a small ring. Sticky legs hang around but not all that many.

S- Farmhouse yeast character is strong mixed in with Brett and sour notes. A great balance is found between those elements, no dominance. Lactic acid bacteria, fruity and band aid Brett, stone fruit pith, barnyard straw, funk and spices.

T- Hmm, this may be a first for me. The lactic hit I found in the nose is almost nothing here. I am not sure it even makes sense to say it somehow smells sour but only tiny tarts here. Much more spicy Saison yeast and Brett happening at this juncture. Brett cherry pie, dry straw, horse blanket, grapes, apples, dried apricot, coriander, wet white oak, pepper and that general spicy yeast feel.

MF- Overall it is light bodied and fairly dry with a foamy consistency. The bubbles land at a medium high level. Light lactic tart and spicy bitter finish.

About as spot on as it gets for a funky, Brett barrel aged Saison. Large amounts of Brett and Saison yeast with hints of bacteria where you have to pull out the subtleties. Really well crafted. (1,347 characters)

750 mL swing top bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy yellow. Nice white head. Great retention.

Smell - Bretty and oaky. Some farmhouse funk. Some hops. A bit of acidity. Very nice.

Taste - Brighter acidic flavors here, but nothing by way of sour. Grainy. Hops are muted. Grassy and lemony. Nice but not as complex as the nose.

Mouthfeel - Light, well carbonated. Easy drinking.

Overall - Delicious. Gets more acidic as I drink it. Less complex, too, but still good. (482 characters)

Batch 9. A little funk on the nose, prickly carb, crisp, and a dry finish. Good, not great. Not my favorite batch so far. (121 characters)

combining separate notes for different batches since they aren't listed separately (hint, hint)

Batch #3: a gusher...their base pale ale aged in barrels used for their sour "arboreal"...was sampled about a year ago and my notes alude me...but from what I remember, this beer was funky, acidic, complex, slighty sweet and tart.

Batch #6: a blend of the base beer partially aged in bourbon barrels and partially in blueberry wine barrels. This version was quite tannic, oaky, funky, and complex. A bit of the bourbon...fluffy with layered notes of rye, pepper and white grapes.

Batch #7 (11/1/13): similar to #6...blended from two BBA batches. Tannic, oaky, fluffy mouthfeel. Juicy beer...lots of Brett complexities...stops just short of being tart to me, but one might call it that. This is such a great wild funky farm beer. Saison? Wild? Sour? Farmhouse? Great. (865 characters)
