On-tap at the brewpub.
A: The Irish red is a lighter brown color (as compared to The Live Bait), translucent but barely so. Another beer that sorely needs a head.
S: Aromas are soft, light with caramel malts and very little in the way of hops. Not quite as malty as I was expecting it to be.
T: The first sip isn't bad though. Chewy with caramel and toffee featured prominently. The hops are an afterthought, allowing the malts to linger and drive the flavor. While the roasted caramel isn't as strong as other Irish reds, it does carry enough flavor.
M: In my notes, I wrote the word 'boring'. On reflection, I think that boring is the wrong word. Put another way, the ale lacks frills.
My least favorite of the line-up. I think it needs a little more of the malts to stand out.
