Small artsy venue just off the square in downtown Lawrenceville. They have a really nice selection of local beers as well as many from points beyond. The food is absolutely not an afterthought either. They are cooking up some incredible and creative eats. Best scallops I have had anywhere for example, but everything I have tried is really good.

I agree with the comments of the other reviewers and would just add that the afternoon spent outdoors on the patio with good food, good beer and great service was a very unexpected in an out of the beaten path place like Lawrenceville. Mike has a great knowledge of the beers on draught and was willing to stop and chat for a few minutes which makes Local Republic seem more like a local, family place. even though it is 30 miles from downtown Buckhead we will head back to the Local when we have a chance.
Give this place a try if you are on the road from Athens to Atlanta and have an hour or two to spare.

This place is incredible. The worst thing about LR is the wait, but it is well worth it. The bar staff is knowledgable about their beer selections, and they have a broad array of a handful of carefully selected beers. They stress the term "local" and their beers, as well as their food tends to be, well, local. The food is outstanding. This is Atlanta's closest thing to Chicago's The Publican. Maybe I'm out of bounds for comparing them to The Publican, but I think their food, atmosphere, and brew selection shares the same inspirations. Definitely worth the drive to Lawrenceville and definitely worth the wait.

This is a great restaurant to enjoy an intimate, laid-back meal. This is the place to enjoy a craft beer paired with an ever changing menu depending on what items are in season. The food is reasonably priced and Ben and his staff are very attentive. The restaurant is an old gas station that has been converted to a restaurant. The garage doors are still present which makes the place very quaint. There is usually a wait on weekends, but it is well worth it. This is a must if you are looking for dining in downtown Lawrenceville.

When you walk in, you know that this is an intimate, laid-back, unpretentious neighborhood bar. Decor is minimal, and the music is just loud enough to hear but does not interfere with conversation. There are no TV sets, so no distractions from sporting events. Waitstaff are very helpful and alert, and quick to bring you your beer orders. Food is very good and reasonably priced, and worth the wait. If you love burgers and good beer, this is a must!
The beers they have on-tap are top-of-the-line craft brews and imports. You won't find any megabrews here, not even Guinness or Samuel Adams. Their beer list changes frequently, so you have a good chance of finding something you haven't sampled before. From time to time they allow craft brewers to take over the place, so get on their mailing list if you live in the neighborhood!
Overall, an excellent, cozy neighborhood bar.
