A: dark amber colour, nice thick head, clear, loads of bubbles rising

S: caramel, hints of woods, hints of fruits (apricot and prunes), hints of malts

T: slightly bitter, loads of wood, roasted malts, hints of caramel, not a lot

M: rather thin, undercarbonated, not dry

O: really average beer, nothing bad, nothing great

I had this beer on my shelf for about a year. So I don't really know if its still available, but I am pretty sure that I saw it being sold in France last summer.

A - A brown/red hazy colored beer with an off white head, without visible carbonation. It looks good and atracting.

S - A hint of whisky mixed with oak wood and peat. There is also yeast and citrus in the smell.

T - A light whisky and oak wood taste. At first the taste is not that nice, its to light in body and complexity.

M - Nice medium carbonation, some bitterness in the end.

O - Overall its a fresh tasting beer. No so bad as on the first sip, but it gets better when having a few more.

A clear, orange beer with thin head.

Smell is light and based around the malt which add a light biscuity and honey-like maltiness. The hops are subtle in the nose, but give the beer a slight spicy and earthy smell.

Taste is light and has a caramel malty and biscuity taste. The yeast is a bit fruity and adds some peach. The bitterness is light and any hop presence can not be determined. A perfect no-nonsense beer for everyday drinking.

Poured from a 750ml into a wine Goblet.

A: Ruby Amber with slight cloudiness. Nice head fades quickly but lacing lasts for a long time

S: Yeast, Almonds, hint of baking spices, touch of baking spices and touch of smokey peat and dry earth.

T: Nutty (Almonds) yeast, touch of dried fruit sweetness (figs) hint of metallic flavor on finish.

M: Silky with nice small bubble carbonation

D: For a 5.4 ABV beer this wonderful. A sessionable beer with nuance and fines. Stands up to and surpasses some Belgian ambers.

BA show this as retired but it is still listed on the brewers website and the folks I talked to bought the bottle I am drinking in France this summer.

I shared this 750ml bottle recently (a present from Britanny).
It poured well to form a decent white head on a red-amber body. Biere au malt tourbé. I looked it up ; tourbé is peat.
It smelled of roasted malts (no hops) and a sweetness from somewhere.
Tasted firstly of sweet malts (a little to sweet for me), but worse it had a cloying, clinging metallic aftertaste. Definitely more metallic than peaty. This aftertaste overpowered the primary taste.
I have never taste a Belgian dark ale anything like this (thankfully).

An amber beer with a soapy white head that fizzes away quickly. Lots and lots of visible carbonation.

Smells like the bitter side of citrussy, some caramel. Whisky? Maybe. Did they use peated malt? I don't really know what that smells like to be honest.
Spicy and woody, or rather a bit minerally so I guess they did use peat?

Yeah they used peated malts. I never had this before and I find it quite interesting.
A bit ashy or something. Reminds me of cigarets.

So at first it tastes quite decent with sweet caramel, after that the peaty smokey stuff rolls in. As I am getting used to it, it seems less prominent but it has this hint of metallic ashtray to it. I am not sure if I like this but this beer is reasonable.

Mouthfeel is not overly special, lighter side of medium but quite a lot of carbonation.

Overall another new experience for me from Brittany. Like the buckwheat, not too sure on the peat. It could work well in a RIS prehaps in small quantities...

With peated malt.

Ruby red - dark cherrywood, clean. Quite good foam, not properly white.
At the smell a good smoked peated, that characterize this beer. Then malty notes, with hint of fruit (plum, nuts).
The taste is dominated again by the smoked and peated notes, but it is neverthless well balanced. Malt. Fresh and pleasant.
Medium-medium-light body.
Quite good fullness in the aftertaste, with some warm that comes back, with malty notes. Green wood.
And the finish, smoked, very long.

A clear amber ale with some fairly strong aromas of sweet malt and grassy hop, along with a faint note of smoke. The smoke is far more appatent in the flavor, although not in an overpowering sort of way. There are also more malty flavor notes, along with a very mild fruit influence. Overall, it’s no Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier, but it would do in a pinch.
