My first beer from Monday Night - it's pretty typical for the style, overall a good beer, but also nothing great about it. Poured out of a bottle into a pint glass, good light brown head on it that remained over the whole top until about halfway through. Seemed a bit over-carbonated, but other than that a pretty solid beer. Looking forward to more from Monday Night.

Poured draft into shaker pint.
A: Pours very dark brown almost black with thin off white head that settled quickly. Some decent lacing.
S: Not much nose of this one, but some hints of smoke, roasted malts.
T: Roasted malts and caramel sweetness. A bit of molasses and some dark fruits. Reminds me a bit of drinking a coke.
M: Full bodied and nicely carbonated.
O: Easy drinking brew. Enjoyable but nothing stands out with it. Bourbon barrel age this one and you might have something special.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a small tan colored head. The head fades very fast leaving only a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a roasted malt smell but has a huge dose of a caramel and molasses as well. Some other aromas of a cherry and prune nature are there as well mixing with the other sweet smells and producing a potently sweet smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a bit of a roasted malt flavor and a whole lot of sweet caramel and some dark fruit flavors of cherry and plum. As the taste advances the caramel transitions to a more molasses like taste with a bit of chocolate and even more cherry and plum coming to the tongue. Some flavors of a cola sweetness then come to the tongue more toward the end. This makes the brew rather sweet overall, but with a little bit of a more herbal and earthy hop flavor coming to the tongue, while not balanced out the sweetness is subdued a bit, leaving a sweet and lightly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Overall the feel wasn't all that great in my opinion. The thicker body accentuates the sweet flavors a bit too much with a lower carbonation likely having been better for the mix of lighter dark and hop flavors, possibly giving them more influence overall.
Overall – I know a scotch ale should be sweet, but this was just rather unbalanced and not all the great of a scotch ale. The flavors don’t really meld well on this one and with the rather poor mouthfeel and look, it really doesn’t have much draw.
