Appearance: darker than usual for a ipa. Dark amber. Huge head on an aggressive pour. Thick fluffy off white head and lacing. Very handsome brew IMO.
Smell: nice but a little back for a dipa. Some grapefruit and sweet floral. Seems to be a malt forward dipa.
Taste: a little more hop bite in the taste. Some bitterness and grapefruit up front balanced by a weaker malt presence. A bitter and mostly dry finish.
Overall: nothing to knock your socks off. Pleasant enough.

Golden amber in appearance. Some thin white head and same thin white collar. Aroma is slightly citrusy with a nice subtle malt sweetness and slight hoppy pineyness. Some lacing. Bitter piney hops in the taste. Something is definitely off with the hops in the flavor. Stale, old hops? Too dry? Something... Medium body and carbonation.

22oz bottle from Hop City (Atlanta, GA). 7.49. No bottle date but the brewery just bottled this for the first time in May. Served in a Sweetwater snifter.
Pours a dark ruby/brown with a one finger fluffy ecrue head. The head settles to a thin misty layer that laces quite well.
Smells of earthy and floral hops with some bready sweetness. Subtle. Different.
While the nose is fairly subdued, the flavor packs a pretty intensely bitter whallop. Initial assault of bitter earth, flower petals and pine bark. Followed by pepper, faint lemon peel, cracker, an almost rye-like spice and just a touch of alcohol. Not what I expect or seek in a DIPA but interesting.
Medium body with carbonation dialed just a little too high for my tastes. Long dry bitter earthy finish.
I certainly like this more than their Eye Patch IPA but it would seem they are shooting for a flavor profile a bit different than what I typically go for. I won't deny that this is a quality brewed DIPA but this is more focused on earthy floral notes rather than the piney citrusy hops that I lean towards. It was worth a try to support this new brewery and it's something a little different. That said, I don't see a repeat purchase in my future.

Wanted to really really like this local brew and I like it but not really really... pours a nice copper brown color good retentive head smell isnt slap in the face with hops which I usually look for taste has hops but not a palate destroyer. Is it my fav dipa? No would i drink it again over other selections yes. I really like drinking local not a hunt it down gotta have it brew butbabsolid effort for sure. Especially from a brewery that wants you to be able to drink their beer every day.
