'14 bottling poured into a Jack's Abby snifter, purchased about a month ago. I believe this is the same beer as the barrel-aged w/ Barismo coffee (except it doesn't say that on the label this year).
A- Pours an opaque black with about a quarter finger of light mocha head that has nice retention receding to a flat top, fairly minimal carbonation.
S- Coffee fairly light (was much richer at the brewery, possibly fading a bit already?), dark fruits, milk chocolate, subtle bourbon. Fairly complex, not as aromatic as the vanilla which has the vanilla coming through a lot more.
T- Lightly bitter dark chocolate, rich coffee but fairly subtle, milk chocolate, dark fruits, bourbon, oak. Not nearly as flavorful as vanilla, again coffee is fairly subtle.
M- Medium bodied, fairly silky, a little bit of alcohol kick on the finish but quite drinkable for 10%.
O- This was a great beer out of the bottle however when I had it fresh at the brewery it was way better with a lot more coffee coming out. This wasn't bad by any means but I preferred the vanilla significantly more out of the bottle, even though I liked the coffee slightly more on draft. This is my first time having this year's coffee from the bottle, so can't comment if it's faded a bit already or if the bottles just were a little bit less coffee forward. Still an awesome variant on an already great base beer and definitely worth trying.
