Flavor: subtle jelly (grape?) and slightly more apparent PB mix well with BBL effects and dark malts. Good complexity and (about even) bitter/sweet balance.

Well hidden ABV - drinks like 7-8% ABV and alcohol esters contribute positively to the overal flavor.

Half liter bottle poured into an Odell snifter. Bottled on date of June 12, 2014.

Creamy yet wispy oatmeal-colored head that quickly dissipates. Lace forms over the body in clumps of bubbles. The liquid was semi-viscous and dark brown on the pour, but it sits in the glass looking a like a rich stout. 4.25

Smells of boozy chocolate, vanilla and raisins. There seems to be a barleywine-like aroma there, deep sticky caramel lingers in my nostril piece. Sweet fruity notes are buried at first, but become more and more noticeable and evoke jelly. Peanut butter notes eventually make a quiet appearance. 4.5

Man this beer is interesting. There's definitely a boozy element too it and barrel character is pronounced giving off some major oakiness, but a number of other flavors manage to punch through. Grape notes like those in a barleywine and a smooth nuttiness do show up, accompanied by a good dose of vanilla, that then get a bit mangled by solventy booze flavor. 3

The booze simply overwhelms this beer. It's overly hot and solvent-like. It reminds me of drinking a shot of cheap vodka almost. There's a creamy body and the carbonation seems just right but neither of these can overcome the heat. 2

Sad stuff. I really was looking forward to this beer but I can't hardly drink it. I keep hoping some warmth will aid its drinkability but it seems hopeless after a solid half hour or so.

A - Very dark coloring here... almost pitch black. Almost motor oil with a light beige head. The head thins out to almost nothing, not a big retention.

S - Big malt backbone here, with notes of coffee and peanut butter. Very interesting! Hint of raspberry at the finish. Malt heavy, you almost have to look for the fruit. There's a lot going on...

T - Here's where the raspberry makes a big presence. Great balance with the malt and fruit, with the malt as a strong foundation.

M - Medium to heavy body - heavy boozy feel which tends to linger.

O - As a fan of Jack's Abby, this sit pretty well. Surprisingly balanced blend here, very complex flavors bouncing off each other. Very well done. Without the power of suggestion, you could still pick up PB&J here.

This is delicious in spite of how weird it is- the guys at jacks Abby really blended these unusual flavors together well. It smells of bourbon, peanut butter and jam. It tastes like all of those things fuzed very well into a serious Baltic porter. Smooth mouthfeel, just delicious. The reason I didn't give it a five all around is because the peanut butter is strong at first in smell and taste and then is overcome by the jam as the beer warms. It's delicious though. Buy it.
