Enjoyed at EBF 2014.
Saw this at NERAX and just had to try it. Awesome flavors blend meatiness, smokiness, maple and cinnamon into one heck of a hybrid beer. The cask really strips things down and lets the flavors shine through. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Glazed Over = Smoked Marzen aged on Caramel, Fenugreek and Salt. Battle of the Barrels 2014 brew picked up over the weekend in a 32oz growler and reviewed live.
A- Poured out of the 32oz growler to two pint glasses with a mostly clear, light amber red body. The low hiss of the growler results in a beer with just a half finger, silky white cap. Head retention is decent but it falls fast to a tiny ring on the beer. Just a few spots of lace here and there.
S- As the name might suggest, glazed donuts come to mind immediately from the caramel addition to the beer. This is in no way totally dominant as the base beer is at least half of what I get and a nice smoky malt presence shows through. Toasted grains, sweets, light fruit esters and some yeast presence.
T- In comparison with the aroma, the base beer comes to life more here. Smoky and toasted grains make up a bulk of this base with hints of light fruits, spice, light roast, bacon, slight butter and light hops for balance. Fenugreek comes alive a bit with a tiny hint of this spices distinct flavor. Caramel glaze throughout with just a bit of sweetness like it came right off of a donut or pastry. Saltiness is perceived but for me it just changes the way the flavors come through more than adding a flavor itself.
MF- Light to moderately thick bodied with a silky and somewhat creamy texture. Carbonation at a nice medium level (Green Goose was a bit on the low side) after being in the growler for two days. Just enough bitterness to be noticed.
If you have ever had a pastry or baked good with bacon in/on it this might remind you of it. There is enough of each beer element in the flavor to not swing things too far in any direction and it ends in a nice balance. Dunking a glazed donut in a Smoked Lager seems like a good idea from this brew!
