On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
This is Jabby Brau, aged in a freshly emptied bourbon barrel that's been rinsed with tequila, and barrel aged with agave nectar, Thai chili peppers, lemon grass, and galangal root. This is going to be beer, right?
It pours a hazy yellow/orange, with a one inch head, and a little bit of lacing.
Smells strange, but intriguing, like sweet grains, tequila, and heady grass clippings.
The taste is similar. There are a lot of adjuncts in this that are unfamiliar to me, but they seem to come together well. A little bit sweet, with a veeery tiny bit of pepper heat, and a lot of herbal grassiness, some citrus flavors, and a little tiny bit of pale malt.
Light bodied, sweet, slightly syrupy mouthfeel, but crisp in the end. Medium carbonation.
This was really interesting, really weird, and ultimately, really good. It helps that it's got a cool name too, but whoever came up with the adjunct bill to this had it right.
