I really enjoy this. The tart cherry melds perfectly with the sour Berliner flavors. Mild carbonation and little head, but still light and fresh tasting. Others complain of not enough bourbon, but I think the subtlety is a plus, the bourbon is here, but it's just 1 aspect of the flavor and aroma profile. It plays nice with others, it doesn't beat beat them into submission as (IMHO) too many other bourbon barrel beers do.
It's very well balanced a refreshing tart over a pleasant chocolaty sweetness, nothing dominates but there is a lot there to enjoy. I find it so enjoyable and drinkable.

Poured from a bottle into a Jacks Abby snifter. It's a murky red/brown, no real head but very bubbly. Bubbles clinging to the side and every so often some bubbles from the bottom pop at the top. Holding it up to the light, becomes way more red than brown.
Smell isn't overwhelming. Can smell a little tart cherry skin. Maybe a little but of oak. It's very mellow.
The taste is pretty mellow, as well. Not sour at all. Slight tartness right up front, with no lingering at the end. You get a very light cherry skin on the aftertaste. More of a sweet cherry. Not sure where the bourbon barrels are. They must be the reason for the cherry being tame. There's a bit of chocolate towards the end, as well.
Mouthfeel is somewhat thin, and not as carbonated as I would have thought from the appearance. There's a little fizz to start but disappears before I even knew it was there! This is an easy drinker, though. With no overhelmingly sourness or carbonation it's going down faster than I anticipated.
Overall, it's a decent beer. Feels pretty good on this hot day, and if I remember correctly it's a step above the regular Berliner Braun. I may not drive to Mass specifically for it, but if I see some while I'm in Mass, I'm absolutely buying a couple.

Poured out into a Hill wine glass. Murkey, reddish brown, dark with zero head. Smells like dark fruit skin, a bit of oak,, some vanilla and that sour beer acid alcohol. Tart up front that doesn't linger at all. Some sweetness, but on the dry side. Bourbon barrel not really detectable, but I think it aided in toning down the overall bite and rounding out the flavors. Basically a flanders red with cherries. Kind of reminded me of Cherry Oud Bruin from Kuhnhenn.
