Notes/Commercial Description:
Centennial, Chinook, Columbus and Crystal hops were added at the very end of the boil to give a robust hop flavor and smooth bitterness. This Spicy and floral beer was brewed with a touch of rye malt to accent the spiciness of the hops. Low in alcohol, yet full in flavor.

16.9oz bottle purchased as a single from Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1" beige head over the slightly cloudy golden amber brew. Frothy head lasts and lasts, with sporadic chunky lacing. Aroma is citrus and light pale malts.

Taste starts with a peek of sweetness, citrus in the middle, and bitterness and more lemony goodness through the close. Smooth mouthfeel, and drinkability is way easy. Sessional thirst-quencher, check.

a real nice lager from jacks abby, but they all are from these guys, totally reinventing the word lager for most craft beer people, a noble and so far highly successful mission. this session rye lager is under 4% abv, clear light copper in color, and carbonated well enough to be supremely refreshing. a classic but robust American hopping makes it about as hop forward as a good ipa, but the low alcohol and the clean finish of the lager yeast make it that much more of a perfect summer day drinker for those seeking such a thing. the rye is really mild in this, probably well under 20% of the grain bill, and quite pale, influencing the overall flavor profile of this beer fairly minimally, which is my only real critique. a little more rye would be awesome, but in the theme of a lighter brew, I think it just accents the hops without being too much. really snappy finish and overall a fun session brew. jacks abby has done nothing but impress me.

On-tap 8/5/2014 at British Beer Company in Walpole, MA served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a large dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus, lager yeast and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a strong but not over-powering burst of piney hops bitterness. Then some sweetness comes in from flavors of citrus and caramel. The malt character is hearty and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry but clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very mild kick, good hoppy representation of style, this is a very good beer to pound down for a long time.
