Notes/Commercial Description:
Ancient timelines talk of dark days, plagued by hardships and Kingdom demands. When hope was all but lost, a legend emerged. A plumber. With copper pipes and an uncanny wit, he battled fierce foes and saw to the brewery’s opening. Our Octoberfest is malty, smooth and exceedingly drinkable. It is perfect to celebrate and honor today’s legends. We use locally grown wheat from MA, Munich malt and noble hops.

12 oz bottle was poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: A minimal head was poured that reduced to nothing quickly. It is a slightly hazy pale orange color with good clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Bready, toasted grains, burnt bread, a little sweetness, lager yeast, and grassy hops.

Taste: Nice Munich malt, wheat, and Noble hops.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light bodied, a bit chewy, low to medium carbonation, and light bitterness.

Overall: Pretty nice Octoberfest. Would have preferred more sweetness, but I'm content with it.

Appearance - clear light orange color with thin film of white head

Smell - caramel, nuts

Taste - caramel malts, nuts, breadiness

Mouthfeel - medium .bodied, higher level of carbonation, slight sweetness upfront, bit of bitterness on the back end

Overall - decent attempt at a marzen, though to me it leans heavier towards an amber ale than a true marzen. Worth a shot

Price point - $2/12 oz single

From 09/17/14 notes at Post 390 in Boston, MA. Had two glasses, 16 oz. pours into pint glasses.

Pours a copper-dark amber color with one to two inches of light tan head and low to moderate carbonation evident. Lots of bready malts, some fruity mats, and light burnt malts. Some brown sugar, dough, wheat, and grains. Medium body and low carbonation, easy to drink.

Overall not my favorite marzen nor my favorite JA beer. Try if you lie the style but don't od too much to seek it out.

Reminiscent of Firestone Walker's Oaktoberfest. It has the bones of a marzen, but aspires to a better form resulting from nuance. Very bright gold, not sure I'd qualify it as copper. Nice head though. Importantly, the basics have been attended to. Malted Munich dominates a sweet aroma; no nuttiness, no pine, just malt. Crisp and soft body. Emphasis on the aged and thrashed flavor of wheat. Smells much much sweeter than actual taste, which is given balance by some Noble hops, herbal, and medicinal flavors.
