Smooth, large, tight-bubbled head. The broth is very cloudy with a light gold color. Leaves ring lace after each sip.

Some pine hop aroma. Very little malt in the background.

Flavor wise, this is far closer to a Double IPA than a double pilsner. This is because of the strong citrus hop presence. Very bitter, even up front. Long aftertaste of black pepper. Relatively thin body with a high level of carbonation.

Bomber courtesy of AutumnBeerLove. Thanks again man.

Pours a hazy, pale golden orange color with a 1.5 finger frothy white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Streaks and spots of soapy lacing left behind.

Slightly earthy aroma with a prominent piney and citrus hop presence along with hints of grass and pale malt. Hints of pine needle, pineapple and citrus ring followed by some light fruit, straw and biscuit.

Fuller bodied than expected with a very prominent dry hoppy presence up front that lingers over the sweeter notes into a lingering dry finish. Decently bitter with some pine needle flavor but this is countered by some sweet citrus and light fruit notes. slight earthy grass and straw presence add to the earthiness but again are balanced out by hints of apple and pear. Still, hop bitterness dominates the flavor throughout before finishing with some slight heat.

Overall this beer is really flavorful but it could use a touch more sweetness for balance. There is some subtle heat in the finish but I was shocked to see that the ABV is so high. Fuller bodied than expected for the style but still pretty quaffable. I would love to try this again in the summer.

A: Pours a hazy yellow/golden color with a billowy white/foamy head with nice retention and sticky lacing down the sides.

S: Nice tropical fruit, some melon, and grapefruit with a bit of citrus zest as well.

T: A continuation of the aroma, plenty of citrus and tropical fruit, some grapefruit, a little pineapple, some orange, and orange zest.

M: Light to medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking.

O: Another great beer from Jack's Abby. Glad to have finally tried this one, and fruitier version of Hoponius.

Big, fluffy whitish cap from a gentle pour. Tons of clumpy lacing, good head retention. The beer was hazy, yellow gold. Fruity aroma, orange and lemon, grassy and a bit tropical. Nice flavour. Hops are in full force, tropical (mango and pineapple) up front, a bit of citrus mid-palate, then bitterness and a hint of spicy alcohol in the finish. Malt was really just there to provide some balance. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Really enjoyable and quite drinkable.

Bottle opened on 6.28.13

Bottled Nov 2012, Yikes!

A - Pours a hazy, very light orange-almost yellow with a huge cream-colored soapy head with good retention.

S - Fruity, hard to place. Citrus and some lager yeast come through as well.

T - Malty, floral, and some grass.

D - Good carbonation and a light body.

O - Still a good beer, but I would love to try a fresh one.

A curious looking bottle found its way home with me yesterday. Pours a cloudy deep straw color bordering on golden with a decent white head that displays minimal retention and lace. Smell comes through with lots of citrus with grapefruit and lemon dominating. Moderate pilsner malt deep underneath. Taste is quite hoppy, lots of citrus with barely any malt to back it up. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a resinous mouthfeel. Great hoppy brew and a great price too, I may have to revisit this again.

A lovely looking beer; burnished gold, lightly hazed body, a big eggshell colored head that has great retention. Aroma pops those New Zealand hops; lots of tropical fruit flavors, and the subtle oniony aroma that lurks underneath. A very dry maltiness is detected with continues to be the case in the flavor; it's a cracker dry underpinning that really stays out of the way and puts these southern hemisphere hops on full display. There is the full assortment of tropical fruit flavors they provide, with not a little of the sharp onion/shallot thing that I get from some of these varieties but many apparently do not. Good but I think after drinking many beers hopped with these varietals that they aren't my personal favorite.

There is a modest and lingering bitterness here I'd say is just about average. The body is light-ish medium and the carbonation is right down the middle; has a lively but smooth, creamy and not at all overcarbonated feel.

This is definitely a strong beer and i can see why so many love it. It's just very good for me but that is more because of my own taste preferences than any flaw, whatsoever, in this brew. Jack's Abby continues to impress me.
