look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Date: 5/4/14
Location: DeCicco’s Pelham
Glassware: Tulip

Appearance: Golden to Orange in color with a massive white frothy head pour. Very nice cling as you drink the beer. The head stays a top the beer for quite some time.
Aroma: This is one floral smelling beer. The ‘kiwi’ hops, Nelson Sauvin, are very present having been added on multiple occasions in the brewing process. Get both hop and hop leaf giving the beer an almost herbal to hoppy aroma. Good fruit presence as well, scents of Tangerine Peel oranges and grapefruit come through.
Flavor: The flavors are nicely balanced and there is not as much of that tart flavor as I was expecting. The fruit is there, the hops are definitely there but there is a lot new in the flavor. A chewy, bready nearly sweet malt base really kicks in giving it a touch of that lager feel. It’s not the flavor that I was expecting from the aroma but it is nice.
Mouthfeel: Medium in body and carbonation. The beer is resinous and drying a bit. Still the beer is very smooth and hides the alcohol well. I would have never thought it was 8.5% ABV.

Notes: Bottled 11.11.2013
