Deep golden in color, this low ABV lager balances Pilsner and Munich malt with an aromatic American hop aroma. This beer starts hoppy but finishes unexpectedly malty with very low bitterness. Impressively flavorful and drinkable for the lightest beer we brew. We dub this beer a "Session Lager," as we once again brew a lager in a beer style of its own. Uses local Soft Red Winter Wheat from Four Star Farms.

From a 16oz can, dated 06/23/20... OK, I forgot to look at the date, alright? Anyway, served in a Pilsner glass.

Pours a mildly hazed, bleary gold with a scant two fingers of sea-foam head. Retention is unremarkable but leaves a heavy blanket of foamy white lacing.

Powerfully robust aroma of grass, grain and oily orange peel. Sharp, grainy, malty.

Taste is very much in line with the nose with a strong character of oily orange peel. Sharp graininess, pine spirits, dirt, brown sugar. An earthy, oily, lemon juice and bitter tree bark aftertaste lingers.

Feel is full and round, smooth, juice-like, medium bodied and brightly carbonated.

Overall, a seriously aggressive face-full of wicked hoppy beer. If anything has tailed-off in the six months since it was canned, it must have been a beast in its prime. Strongly reminiscent of a west coast-style IPA, more so than anything that belongs in my Pilsner glass. I’m on the lookout for a fresh can.

Note that the current iteration states abv at 5.5% and 30 IBUs.

16 oz can , canned 6/23/2020, poured into a tulip glass. A mostly clear golden orange with a one finger foamy head that hangs on for a while. Mild floral and citrus (lemon) aroma in the hoppy lager vein. The taste adds some mild bread notes. The feel is thin, slightly watery, carbonation medium high. Overall, a decent beverage, though I prefer the current version.

Canned 6/23/20

Pours a hazy golden wheat color with a white head which promptly drops to a film.

Scent is light citrus (lemon and lime) orange and a biscuity malt note.

Taste is citrus hops (lemon, lime, grapefruit) atop a bready biscuity malt base. Sweet bready malt which becomes more prominent as the beer warms. The grains and hop notes are well balanced. Nice bitterness and a crisp finish.

Mouth is a creamy medium with a crisp bitter finish.

Excellent drinkability: I want another.

This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a slight hazy bronzed yellow color with a fast rising carbonation rising to fill a two finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was mainly speckled in a messy sort of way. The smell started off with sweet freshly cut grass running into slight sweet citrusy notes. The taste was moderately grassy sweet. A dry sweet semi-grassy aftertaste slides into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs really light for this one. I’m not minding that. A sweet sticky dryness clings to my tongue nicely. Overall, this was a pretty nice American Pale lager that I would have again and definitely would be nice with its respected food.

The malt quality of this beer certainly shines through with strong bread and cereal taste with a slight sweetness. It has a nice light gold look with a bit of haze to it. The overall hop note was grassy. A nice lager.
