Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: jlindros on 01-15-2012

Deep golden in color, this low ABV lager balances Pilsner and Munich malt with an aromatic American hop aroma. This beer starts hoppy but finishes unexpectedly malty with very low bitterness. Impressively flavorful and drinkable for the lightest beer we brew. We dub this beer a "Session Lager," as we once again brew a lager in a beer style of its own. Uses local Soft Red Winter Wheat from Four Star Farms.

Thanks, angrybabboon! Poured out of a 12oz bottle into a stange glass.

Cloudy golden-amber, with a nice frothy head that lasts a good long while (thanks to the glass). Looks delicate - lots of carbonation abounds. Some stickiness, but pretty simple in presentation.

Solid notes on the aroma that balance out all of the different ingredients. Notes of yellow apples, white raisins, and pears. A light leaf-like herbal character with some minor bitterness from the hops lurks within, alongside toasted grainy notes and some spicy yeasty phenols. Balanced, but very light overall. I have a feeling that the aroma is not the highlight of this beer at the moment.

The balance is a little bit more evident in the flavor, to the point where the hops and malts are far better represented. Slight notes of peaches and apples are at the front, with some minor grassy bitterness, soon which becomes cleansed by the grainy finish from the beer. Notes of sweet toffee and caramel open up, with a clean, mildly bitter finish but overall pretty crisp and easy to drink. Slight spices from the hops and yeast become lasting on the palate after each sip, and prepare you for the next. Very mild, but undeniably refreshing.

Compared to some of this brewery's other offerings, this is more of a standard, Munich style lager - but it's one of the best renditions I've had on the style thus far in America. I could easily stock up on this during the warmer months, in spite of its light, crisp feel. In a world propelled with breweries trying to outdo each other with high gravity, ridiculous recipes, this is a nice breath of fresh air (for now).

Clear light gold colour with a thin whitish cap. Good head retention, kind of sticky. Bright lemony aroma, citrus and a bit of spiciness, doughy malt, really nice. Tangerines up front, toasted malt, slight green/grassy hop character, slight spice. Short finish with minty bitterness lingering on the palate. Light bodied, average CO2, off-dry. Quite good and very refreshing.

The beer comes in a light gold color.

The aroma has some citrus and a clean lager note.

The flavor follows with a bit of citrus, but mostly grassy lager hops. It has a substantial bready malt in there. A well made beer in the line of pilsners and helles. Traditional in flavor, but nothing surprising.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on January 1, 2014.

The pour is orange amber mostly with a white head that fades after awhile. A little cloudy.

The malt character is clean in the nose along with an orange, citrus character and some fizz. Very clean and crisp.

The body is light mainly.

There is a citrusy, orange, and apple taste up front. The hop finish is mild hut lingers. It works for the style.
