Style | ABV
American Pale Lager |  4.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Deep golden in color, this low ABV lager balances Pilsner and Munich malt with an aromatic American hop aroma. This beer starts hoppy but finishes unexpectedly malty with very low bitterness. Impressively flavorful and drinkable for the lightest beer we brew. We dub this beer a "Session Lager," as we once again brew a lager in a beer style of its own. Uses local Soft Red Winter Wheat from Four Star Farms.

On tap at New York Pizza. Pours a translucent dark golden color with an inch of head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is some lightly toasted malts with some citrus and grassy hops. The taste is more of the same. Bready malts mixed with some grassy hop bitterness. Some citrus near the end with floral and grassy hop notes. The finish is more of the malts with some light bitterness. Light mouthfeel and a bit watery. Very easy to drink and refreshing. This would be a solid canned session beer, but there are better options out there. Still good, though. Overall, not the best Jack's Abby has to offer but not a bad beer by any strech of the imagination.

I had this on a couple occasions, this time in a glass from a bottle chilled.

The color is resplendent golden with great clarity and 3 fingers of white smooth creamy head with avg bead and fast moving carbonation visible with spotty lace collecting. The smell has lots of herbal aroma with light malt with slight toasted grain and dank quality in the hops juxtaposed with the earthy grain scent and mild yeast ester. The feel is light in body with medium bitterness and medium high carbonation with grainy earthy dry finish and low sweetness.

The taste is very good with lager-like malt flavor with slight dank hops which are herbal and the toasted grain supports this combination well with light earthy weed hoppiness and low sweetness in the taste with a dry finish and light resinous aspect that adds a citrus tanginess with gentle yeast in the finish with mild caramel quality from the malt. Overall I consider this well above average for the style -very good hop flavor in a sessionable lager strength with a slight raw hop quality.

Looks like a lager and tastes like a lager. Very limited bitterness. Nice bready malt sweetness. No off flavors that sometimes pair with craft lagers. This beer is clean and crisp and very enjoyable on a warm day. Jack's Abby makes really well crafted lager bodies, which show in the smooth mouthfeel. Reminds me a lot of New Glarus lagers, which is a good thing.

a. Golden yellow orange in color which cannot be seen through. 2 finger head on the pour into a tulip glass.

s. Acidic smell, maybe some citrus, malt.

t. Refreshing and crisp. Yeast, malt - nice. There is an unexpected creaminess to this beer.No bitter taste that accompanies many lagers.

m. For not holding the head and minimal lacing, the mouthfeel was great. The beer had body and was extremely easy to drink.

o. Not being a typical Lager guy, I may have just found my go to lager

Served in a pitcher at State Park in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

A- Hazy pilsner-golden body, one finger white head with good retention, no lacing.

S- Pilsner malt, a touch of citrus hops, noble hops. Sweet bread. Not particularly strong.

F- Pilsner malt, noble hops. Not very bitter, not very complicated.

M- About the right amount of body; solidly medium and very drinkable. Sweet and dry pilsner malt finishes things off.

O- Super easy to drink, fairly flavourful for a pale malt. No off-flavours, enjoyable.
