Notes/Commercial Description:
Big, Bold, and Black. This unusual lager style has many similarities to Imperial Stouts. A lengthy conditioning period creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. At 10% alcohol by volume, this beer is sure to keep you warm on a cold winter night.

Awesome 500ml bottle into my New Belgium globe.

A: Dark pour yields a dark, nearly opaque body with transparent edges; light tan head fades at a moderate speed.

S: Toasted sugars, dark black patent malt, subdued espresso beans, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, oats...faint, pleasant smoke.

T: Mostly coffee and oats up front, with a good dose of dark brown sugar and a dusting of cocoa. Malty, moderately sweet, but still balanced with coffee-like qualities lending a pleasant bitterness. Very nice.

MF: Full but not heavy, with a body that is VERY creamy and silky; oats making their presence known here, too.

O: Really, really great Baltic, one of my favorites. Barrel-aging took this thing to another level in the other variants, but this base beer is incredible tasty, balanced, and smooth.

Cheers Adam!

Thanks to kmurray8621 for this one.

A - Black with brown edges, dark khaki head.

S - Baker's chocolate, coffee, roast, booze, toffee, mixed nuts.

T - Milk chocolate, toffee, coffee, alcohol heat.

M - Silky, medium full body. soft but pretty viscous heat from the booze in the finish.

O - Smooth beer, very solid Baltic Porter, not extraordinarily complex, but very robust in the flavors and characters it does express.

Had on tap at the otherside- pours a thick black with a one finger cappuccino head. Decent retention and nice creamy lacing.

Smell is unimpressive- a little chocolatey dark malt, a little booze and a little lager yeast.

Taste is big- pretty sweet, a little roasty, nice round and full malt profile, and a little bit of yeast.

Mouthfeel is nice as well- medium to full bodied with a little carbonation. Definitely a nice Baltic porter- get it if you see it and live darker beer.
