2013 version which to my understanding is the Framinghammer Baltic Porter aged in High West bourbon Barrels.
1 pint .9oz. bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip style glass. The pour looks like a coca-cola brown color until it hits the glass where it gets close to black in color. There are brown highlights along the edges and when held up to the light. The tan comes up huge with many different sized bubbles. Actually pretty good amount of lacing to it. Overall a pretty darn good looking brew.
Smell is really good. Bourbon/whiskey comes out right away. Vanilla and a very sweet oak/woody smell. Plenty of dark roasted malts, classic to any baltic porter, caramel/toffee sweetness with additions of some melted brown sugar and maybe a bit of molasses. Overall very good in the nose.
I initially thought the taste wasn't quite as good as the smell, but it grew on me along the way as it warmed up a bit. Again as noted in the smell, the bourbon comes out first. It has a strong woody and strong notes of vanilla. Sweet caramel malts and a bit toasty flavors, almost over toasted. Hops are present, sort of provide a slight spicy/earthy flavor to the addition to everything, slightly boozy at the end. Really good overall and balances out pretty good.
Mouthfeel is really the only thing that wasn't mind blowing. Pretty thin overall, almost feels like a baltic porter that was cut with a shot of bourbon to thin it out. Earthy, spicy and a little hot at the end. Carbonation is pretty much on point though. Overall pretty good, just not stellar like the rest of it. Still pretty drinkable and overall another well done beer by Jack's Abby.

Bottle poured into glass stein
Deep black, pours a taupe foam lid. Settles to a layer of taupe
Aroma of sweet malt, bourbon, brown sugar, tobacco, deep rich figs. Smells great.
Incredibly smooth, sweet on the front of the tongue. Bourbon, caramel, sweet malts. Feel the alcohol on the back of the tongue, still smooth and not a sharp bite. Gentle carbonation but a full mouthfeel because of the alcohol. At 10% abv! this is a one beer at a time! not a session beer.
Great beer, silky smooth, rich, flavorful , enjoyable and repeatable.
