Poured into oversized wine glass

A: Pours deep mahogany-black with a very thin, quickly dissipating russet head.

S: Sweet bourbon notes of vanilla, caramel and wood rule the nose. Roasted coffee and baking chocolate hiding behind the bourbon.

T: Bourbon and dark chocolate fight for flavor domination. Heavy oak, burnt sugar, and vanilla tones are prevalent with more subtle hints of black coffee and dark fruit lurking the background. Roasted malt bitterness lingers in the finish like a quality espresso.

M: Viscous and chewable, but in a lager-y way. Low to mild carbonation in a heavy body. Alcohol warms on the tongue.

O: Boozy and strong in the vein of BCBS, though slightly more subdued. Heavy and sweet bourbon taste balance out the dark roasted malts. The barrel aging works wonders for the already amazing Framinghammer. If you like barrel aged dark beers, this is highly recommended if you can get your hands on it.

2014 bottle shared amongst friends in maple syrup glasses.
Very dark amber only revealed slightly with a very bright flashlight.
Smell is very boozy and some oak and slight banana.
Little head but great lace.
Mouthfeel is light even for a porter especially at 10%abv.
Slightly bourbony on the taste. Some good coffee flavor. Nut.
Highly recommend.

A: deep brown, not black, and not fully opaque. Thin head, moderate lacing (alcohol limited is my guess).
S: when very cold, not much of an aroma. As it warms, there is malty, a little coffee and oaky bourbon.
T: When cold, the alcohol was not as well hidden. As it warmed it had nice roasted nutty character with really only moderate bourbon notes. This is not a bourbon bomb like BCBS, the flavors are more subtle.
M: rather thin and slippery. This is not a thick stout, it has the mouthfeel of a lager in many respects. Easy to drink.
O: terrific beer for what it is. Do not expect a monster thick, heavy bourbon flavored stout. This is a porter, it is more approachable, more drinkable and more subtle in all its flavors and smells.
