Notes/Commercial Description:
True Story! Running a brewery can be "bock" breaking. It's all worthwhile when you have the opportunity to share beer like this. Our Maibock/Helles Bock is deep golden in color with an intense malty almost grape like aroma and flavor. A light noble hop character balances the smooth sweet finish. A long lagering time makes this beer exceptionally drinkable for its strength. Don't be fooled by its light color.

16.9oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a hazy golden amber with a white head on top. A bit too opaque to see any visible carbonation. A touch of lacing on the sides of the glass.

S: Initial malty aroma lends a bready and carmely character. The hops lend a bit of citrus and spiciness. Touch of alcohol on the backend.

T: Well balanced mix of maltiness and hop flavor. Starts off with that sweet bread like malt flavor before giving way to a mild hop bite.

M: Very smooth and easy drinking. The finish on this is very crisp considering the amount of flavor in the brew.

Overall certainly a great representation of the style. A nice malt profile that doesnt overpower and a hop compliment. Can always trust Jacks Abby to brew up a good lager.

Pours beautiful light amber. In the natural light it is hazy and yellow, pale and with light yellow hues. In the light of the room it has golden amber hues and a firey yellow deep in the center. A stream of bubbles is climbing to the top but it is not effervescent. It is merely organized there in the center The head is cream colored and thick. It lasts and leaves some lace. Does not fall completely because why should it?

Nose is clean and rich with malt. Depth without too much sweetness. Beautiful grain you can imagine that it is as golden as the color of this beer. No hop scents.

Taste is sweet grain. deep and never ending but not heavy. There is but a drop of honey on this one and it is the natural sweetness of the grain that seems to filling the palate with it's it's light toastiness. There is a faint bit of the white grape sweetness on this and to the delight of the palate - a bit of pepper.! SPLENDID! Creamy mouthfeel with a nice little bite from carbonation.

A. Pours a straw yellow, almost clear despite being unfiltered. Thin head, consistent lacing.

S. Smells bready, a little earthy, very typical of what you'd expect of a German lager.

T. Crisp, a little bitterness and not a lot of complex flavors. Rather generic, surprisingly.

M. Nice, medium body, perhaps from the higher abv.

O. Just Ok. Wouldn't seek it out, but then perhaps this just isn't my style.

A - Pours a deep gold. The head is relatively small and formed of large bubbles that recede quickly and leave no lacing. Just a slight haze on the beer that may have been caused by the condensation on the outside of the glass. It was pretty muggy today.

S - Light aromas, but pleasant. Mostly a grassy, flowery noble hop character.

T - Follows the nose, but adds in a biscuit sweetness. Maybe a touch of honey. Very mild, and balanced well with a round bitterness that forms on the finish.

M - Not the soft velvety feel that I get from some other JA beers, but appropriate to the style. It's medium bodied and finishes clean.

O - Insanely drinkable. I could easily put down a growler of this and it reminded me a little of the Sunny Ridge pilsner that I had recently. Highly recommended, but if you want something comparable in flavor grab a growler of the pilsner. These were only available in bottles at the time of purchase.
