1 pint .9 oz. bottle poured into a large Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Liquid comes out a straw yellow color and it's pretty hazy. The head comes up big and it's white and has a lot of bubbles . What saves this beer to actually being good looking is the lacing, it's really nice.
Smell is good. Rye present, lots of it, straw and some earthy hops. Little bit of lager yeast and some caramel malts/grain. Nothing too special, but nice, pretty straight forward.
Taste is good, but it's not very strong. Some pretty good malts, but overall there are some fruity hops, almost tropical and a little earthy.
Mouthfeel is good. Pretty smooth, somewhat medium feel. Bitter finish without being too clean. Not bad, pretty refreshing and drinkable. This is pretty good, but given the choice I'd probably pick Hopponius Union every other time.

Poured into pokal
A: Golden sun yellow with large, creamy, off white head. Leaves large amounts of spider web lacing.
S: Spicy rye, with underlying notes of tropical fruit hops. Hint of bubblegum from the Sorachi Ace.
T: Rye spice and tang right up front, and an assortment of hop flavors following. The Sorachi Ace flavor is most dominant, with its tones of bubblegum and hint of dill. Cascade hop flavor is lurking around as well with flavors of pine resin. Not much in the way of malt flavors except for the overwhelming rye tone.
M: Relatively clean on the palate and ever so slightly viscous. Moderate to little carbonation.
O: Quite a unique beer, let alone a lager. The Sorachi Ace threw me, as I was expecting this beer to be relatively straightforward. Props of JA for taking this beer in a different direction and making it one-of-a-kind.
