Bottle to Speigleau Wheat glass
Thanks to Jlindros & RudZud for this one
App- When this poured out of the bottle, it was a very good looking yellow and gold mish mash. A lot of head formed and was overflowing at one point with even a delicate pour. The center was a bit darker gold with the edges being a bit light. The cling was very impressive to say the least. A common theme for Jacks Abby.
Smell- I have become pretty partial to the lager notes in most beers lately and this was right up there with a lemony, malty lager note. Next came the sorachi with more of a lemon and piney resin type of aroma and a bit tea like. The rye is last with a solid bitter and aromatic addition to this one.
Taste- I enjoy Jacks Abbys beer. This mightve had a bit too much going on. The flavors are actually competing vs. complimenting. To me Sorachi and the lemon tea flavor clashes against the spice of the rye. The lager notes bring this down a bit and create a bit of a muddled middle to it.
Mouth- A solid medium body with a medium carbonation level. The sorachi ace adds a good amount of residual grassy tea like flavors and the rye brings a nice amount of spice and flake to it.
Drink- This was good. Just not what I was thinking. I love Rye and loved Brooklyns Sorachi Ace. This just like I said, seem to clash vs. integrate well.

Poured into pokal
A: Golden sun yellow with large, creamy, off white head. Leaves large amounts of spider web lacing.
S: Spicy rye, with underlying notes of tropical fruit hops. Hint of bubblegum from the Sorachi Ace.
T: Rye spice and tang right up front, and an assortment of hop flavors following. The Sorachi Ace flavor is most dominant, with its tones of bubblegum and hint of dill. Cascade hop flavor is lurking around as well with flavors of pine resin. Not much in the way of malt flavors except for the overwhelming rye tone.
M: Relatively clean on the palate and ever so slightly viscous. Moderate to little carbonation.
O: Quite a unique beer, let alone a lager. The Sorachi Ace threw me, as I was expecting this beer to be relatively straightforward. Props of JA for taking this beer in a different direction and making it one-of-a-kind.
