Poured into pokal
A: Golden sun yellow with large, creamy, off white head. Leaves large amounts of spider web lacing.
S: Spicy rye, with underlying notes of tropical fruit hops. Hint of bubblegum from the Sorachi Ace.
T: Rye spice and tang right up front, and an assortment of hop flavors following. The Sorachi Ace flavor is most dominant, with its tones of bubblegum and hint of dill. Cascade hop flavor is lurking around as well with flavors of pine resin. Not much in the way of malt flavors except for the overwhelming rye tone.
M: Relatively clean on the palate and ever so slightly viscous. Moderate to little carbonation.
O: Quite a unique beer, let alone a lager. The Sorachi Ace threw me, as I was expecting this beer to be relatively straightforward. Props of JA for taking this beer in a different direction and making it one-of-a-kind.
